Off the market, going to WV. I wonder if Rich Rodriquez jumps ship at the end of the year if he'll stay committed.

We extended an official offer to him yesterday. He says he'll look around before making a final decision.

Josh is officially back on the market. According to Rivals, Jenkins is no longer a WVU "soft verbal". Also B&G no longer lists him as committed to another school. As to Josh's opinion of ND, here it is “Notre Dame, their education is amazing up there,”. Where have we heard that before!

Jenkins is quickly becoming the Joseph Barksdale/ Jeremy Finch prototype for the 2008 recruiting class. He committed to WVU, then de-committed, and now according to B&G and Rivals he is once again a WVU Solid Verbal, Scout still lists him as "soft". I should say so, because he just spent the weekend at OSU and this is the latest comment out of his mouth:

"I'm still committed to West Virginia, but Ohio State is one of my other top choices."

If that is a "Solid Verbal", then Greg Little must have actually signed his LOI with Notre Dame instead of UNC. Jenkins will not be solid for anybody until he signs his LOI next February. In any case, it seems doubtful that ND would be pursuing him at all, because he is a poster child for CW changing his recruiting policy for the 2008 Class.

This is almost funny, and slightly irrelevant because Josh Jenkins will almost certainly never wear an ND uniform, but B&G has once again taken down Jenkins as a WVU commit. B&G had Jenkins listed as a WVU recruit from November until February 15, when they took him off their committed list, only to relist him as a WVU commit on February 28, and now today they de-listed him from WVU again. Maybe they finally read Jenkins quote after visiting OSU the last weekend in February.

"I'm still committed to West Virginia, but Ohio State is one of my other top choices."

Jenkins is now listed as a no commit on B&G, a WVU "Solid verbal" on Rivals, and a WVU "Soft verbal" on Scout. As I said almost funny, but meaningless to ND. It should be interesting to see if Jenkins can outmatch the 2007 champ, Joseph "the University of LSU" Barksdale for the most comical recruiting saga of 2008.

nd needs to leave this kid alone. he can't make up his mind and I know it's early but if you give someone a commitment be a man and honor it.

Look I know this guy seems all over the map as far as his recruiting goes but yopu have to kee the offer extended to him because he seems like he is one of the top guys at his position. The only difference will be if this kid were to ever commit to ND then Weis would sit down and talk to him and his parents and tell them that if you commit there is no more looking, if you look your gone, commit when your 100% sure that ND is where you want to be. After that, what happens happens, but you have to go after the guy if he is truly talented.

It was also reported on Power Hour that the ND coaches have been having trouble trying to contact Josh. It seems that some of the adults in Josh's life have been running interference against some of the schools that have been trying to contact Josh in an attempt to push Josh into going to the school of their choice, and not allowing him to have all of his possible options. One such way is they have been refusing to give the ND coaching staff Josh's cell phone number so that they won't have the ability to text Josh, or have Josh call them back. Given this info Josh's erratic recruting process is starting to make a little more sense now.

GG- Great Info, just goes to show what a valuable resource Power Hour is, I missed it this week and didn't get to catch up except for listening to the Goodman part.

For anyone who does miss the Power Hour they maintain the free audio of all of the Power Hours back to August 2005 at this link. Just click on the hyperlink on the main page to pick the Power Hour weekly show that you want to listen to.

I put my money on him going to OSU. I think he is only staying a verbal to WVU because the local pressure and he'll wait until the last minute to pull a switcheroo.

This Rock & Roll recruiting rollercoster sounds a bit better for WVU.....

http://wvgazette.com/section/Sports/2007060927

“I’m committed to WVU,’’ he said for what must be the 1,000th time. “I want to see the country. I can understand [WVU fans being] nervous if I de-committed. But I’m still committed.’’

Understandably, though, the services have given that commitment a “soft’’ tag.

“It’s really not,’’ he said. “There’s no such thing. Either you’re committed or you’re not. That’s where people get carried away.

“It’s not soft. You’re either committed or you’re not.’’

But what of the planned visits to other schools? What does that say to the WVU coaches and fans?

“I’d say this to them: Would you take these visits?’’ he said. “Would you take them and see other parts of the country?’’

---------Isn't he taking all of these unofficials on his own dime? I'd understand if it was the fall and you weren't paying, but I wouldn't want to be driving everywhere on my own money If I have absolutely no interest in going there. Hmm we'll see about him, but if I'm other coachs I just give up because he's not worth the hassle.

Looks like WVU will probably not get him in the end. If he is good enough to get other offers from big time programs, then most likely we will end up where ever they show him the most love.

-------???? Wheeler, my above post shows that him going to WVU is looking better then ever.

Better than ever? How could it be better than the day he verballed?

He's says he's still committed but he's going to places like Columbus, South Bend, Ann Arbor, and Gainesville.

He says,
"I want to see the country"

What does that say to the WVU coaches and fans?

“I’d say this to them: Would you take these visits?’’ he said. “Would you take them and see other parts of the country?’’

You don't go to Columbus, South Bend, Ann Arbor, and Gainesville to "see the country". You don't go to Ann Arbor; you go to The Great Lakes.
You don't go to South Bend; you go to Chicago.
You don't go to Gainsville; you go to the Florida Keys.

Poeple that want to "see the country" don't go to cities with major football programs they go to the Grand Canyon, San Francisico, The Tetons, The Outer Banks, The Mississippis River, Nawlins, The Alamo, Vegas, and hundreds of other places.

If he was taking Officals at least you could say, "Hey, their paying for a free trip to Florida, (Ohio or wherever)" he getting frequent flyer miles.

But he's paying for these trips on his dime. If he was going to Chicago to see the Cubs, or the Bears, or eat his first deep dish pizza and making a stopover in Ann Arbor on the way, he could say he's "seeing the country". But he's not. Specific college campuses are where he's going. Campuses that have offered his a scholarship.

He's looking. He may well end up in Morgantown but he's looking.

Now that RR has left WVU Josh has openly decommited from WVU and has eliminated them from contention. He says he's down to Ohio State, Florida State, Penn State and Pitt, but I'd be shocked if he didn't end up at OSU. They're bringing in quite the OL haul this year.

Uh, ok...

That would be the first I've heard about it. If they are he's probably a prefered walk-on because like I said this is the first I've heard of it.
