I remember seeing his video all over YouTube. It's pretty ridiculous.

apparently the whole jumping over a defender like that happened a lot for this kid but that is the only one where a TV station was there to record it

Remember the type of guys that Mack Brown was able to lure to North Carolina, so recruiting in Texas is a cake walk for him. These kids see no reason to leave for the likes of USC, Florida or other top programs, because they can get the samethings at UT, including National Championships. Now they don't get every top guy there, but they get so many that losing one or two isn't a biggie.

I don't know how UT does. They must use all these gorgeous Texas women to their advantage.

Very Big Homestate U. in a cool city + Rich Nike School + Huge Population in a football state + Recent National Championship + Lots of hot women + Mack Brown's personality = Utimate and complete recruit lockdown

I had a couple of cousins that went to Baylor, and they last time I was down there I was single at the time and they kept trying to talk me into moving don there. Their ultimate bate was they said if I did they could hook me up with some of their friends. Given what some of their friends looked like it was pretty tempting.

I think Mack Brown is a really nice stand up guy that I would've liked to play for, and the kind of guy that I wouldn't mind having my future kids play for. If I had to pick a school to play at (ND not included), and my decision was completely based on the head coach, then I would have to choose Texas (Mack Brown) in football, and North Carolina (Roy Williams) in basketball.

Rivals is reporting that McGuffie has an Official Offer from ND.

Do we really need any RBs in that class? I kinda wonder...we are going to have quite a few that are game breakers at this point. Tate might play elsewhere, but we look good from this perspective.

James Aldridge #34
Munir Prince #25
Armando Allen #5
Robert Hughes
Golden Tate

Maybe just 1 more?

He seems like a good enough athlete to play a different position than just running back just by looking at his numbers.

Unless the offer went out Thursday or Friday then I think it might be wrong. Last I knew they only had 1 RB offer out and it was to Ryan Williams. Last I knew CW was only going to probably take 1 RB, and if another RB was going to get offerd this early I would have thought it would be Jonas Gray.

GG- You never know with Rivals, but it is in 2 places, one a quote from McGuffie saying he talked to CW yesterday, and CW told him that his offer was in front of him and going out today.

Yeah, if it's in multiple places that's usually pretty solid info. Plus on the Lewis-Moore article it said the offer went out yesterday. These are probably just the new offers that CW said were going to go out next Mon. and Tues. during his presser. I just didn't want us to get carried away reporting how many kids were getting offers based on the little bit of info that CW gave us.

Why do some of you think ND's got good RB depth? Because IMO it's far from being good sure it's solid but there are some many different types or RB's to have and you have to have players in case of injury. I want USC type RB depth, 8 in two classes and most of them are elite talents that are high 4* talent to 5* talent.

2 would be nice, and they are flexible players usually. By the way if Armando Allen, Aldridge, Thomas are ahead of Munir Prince do you think he moves to CB or WR.

Two would be nice.

Thomas is in his last year. He'll be gone when the '08 Class arrives.

Aldridge arrived in Jan but didn't play until Stanford, the 6th game of the season. Only had 37 carries in 7 games. Showed promise. Are his knees healthy? Healthy enough to be a bell cow?

Prince is supposed to have blazing speed but it did't show in the 15 carries he had in '07, 1.4 ypc. He could not turn the corner and frequently was dropped for losses. Yes he got in garbage time. That's the way most rookies work their way in. He seemed to have worked his way out. Does he have the hands to be a receiver???

Allen appears to have the speed that's been missing. He had two broken bones (wrist, leg) in HS. Is he rehabbed and ready to go? Durability??? Will see if the speed is truly there in Spring Ball.

Hughes has size to bang inside and is a hitter. There was a clip where he hit a lowered a shoulder and blew up a defender. Supposed to blocking skills that most freshman don't bring with them. Can he identify and pick up a blitz? (Can any of them?)

I wonder if you will see a couple of lower-ranked RBs coming in? With three highly ranked RBs in the past two classes, I don't see a lot of PT available. We simply don't have the pull yet of a USC, that can bring in a thousand RBs.

If you go to the rivals page - http://rivals100.rivals.com/ - there is a video of sam and u can see his highlights.

Very very very impressive and i really hope he comes to ND. he seems like an excellent receiver and is incredibly fast. i think he could add another dimension to our offense. He spoke specifically about his conversation with Weis as well.

I second that Flea, he needs to bulk up a tad and get stronger, but he's definitely my fav running back prospect or even receiver. Elite speed and quickness. I think he's going to be rated a 5 star by everyone IMO

I think he has 5-star potential, no doubt. But I just don't think he is there yet. We'll have to see how he holds up his senior year. But my concern would be that he could easily get injured, carrying the ball so many times, and being so light...in Texas.

But then again, he has done it just fine thus far, so maybe he is a lot tougher than I am giving him credit for.

I've asked around about him and most don't have him as 1 of the top 5 RB's in Texas let alone the country so you can kiss that 5 star rating good bye seniorle because he's not going to get past 4 stars. Many seemed to recgonize him as a pretty good athlete but many doubt that he will be a RB at the next level.

What little I've seen of him I was fairly impressed but the thing that gets me is that in the rivals piece on him, he gets compared to white speed WR's not RB's and because of that and what I've heard elsewhere I highly doubt he's a RB at the next level if he's with an elite program.

It's only a guess but I think Weis & Co. see him like they saw Barry Gallup in '06, a stud HS RB that will be converted to be a WR in college. I think they see these kids as great athletes and winners but without a true position and that at the very least they should be special team stars.

These statements saying this kid isn't an elite talent and a surefire rb in D1 are ignorant and backwards to say the least. Have you seen the footage and numbers this guy is putting up?! He's playing in the largest division in ALMIGHTY Texas that everyone raves about and is super fast and athletic. His measurables are freakish and he will only get better. I would say he is close if not as good as AA who by the way got injured this year without much flack about his durability. This kid is white. Plain and simple racism is the only obstacle he may face that will deny him the opportunity to play his natural position in college. The pollitically incorrect topic of racism against whites may be taboo, but its time that the word is a two way street.
