Rivals is reporting with some degree of certainty that Kenneth Page is about to receive an ND Official Offer. Page is on the Rivals 250 to watch list for 2008, and is considered to be the top OL in the state of South Carolina.

Both Rivals & Scout/Irish Eyes both now list Kenneth Page as an Official Offer, as Page becomes the 59th member of the 2008 Irish Envy Official Offer List.

Kenneth Page is another guy who ND has recently offered who was at one time thought to be a lock to another school, in this case, Clemson. He is now saying that he does not anticipate an early committment to anyone, and intends to take his recruiting to the end.

Page is now on the B&G Offer List as well. Kenneth is also apparently a growing boy, his Scout profile now lists him at 285 lbs, and the Irish Eyes headline blurb about his offer says that he is now 295 lbs. Although he is listed as a OT, it appears that the Irish are in fact recruiting him to play OG.

In the afterglow of the Irish offer, Page had some very positive things to say about ND, including that out of his approximately 34 offers, if he had to pick a Top 5, the only school he could think of right away to put in there was Notre Dame. That is a pretty amazing comment which would seem to indicate that the Irish was now his top choice, but always be wary of the offer afterglow effect. On the other hand, his coach who was interviewed separately also said that Kenneth is very high on ND, so in any case, Page has a definite interest in Notre Dame.

4.0 GPA ... gotta like seeing that. Here's hoping we land him!

Its sounding like those comments from Page aren't afterglow, as IUB cautioned. He mentioned loving the tandem of athletics and academics in a free access scout article, and it seems to be holding serve with this kid. The 'Noles will be a player for him (childhood favorite), but his career plans fall right in line with ND's academic strength - business.

Its a gut feeling for me, but I think he's ND's next (and last) OL get - though not any time soon. I think people should start to re-route their attention to Page, because the guy definitely has talent, and we've got an excellent shot to get him. I hope he's not overlooked because he projects as a guard. 30+ offers, virtually all the SEC/ACC schools, not to mention Michigan offering... the guy is nothing to scoff at. We would not be "settling" if we got this guy, whatsoever.

There is also an article on Rivals by the Boston College site. Lots of quotes from the coach saying Page cares about education 1st, and football 2nd. He said that Page won't be going to a "football factory" (his words not mine), and B.C. has a real shot.

....the article was all about B.C. so ND was never mentioned but if academics are so important you have to think ND has a chance......I'll actually be very surprised if he goes to a SEC school based on his coaches comments.

I know what you're saying, but there is a difference between seeing a guy say it, and reading what he said. The video I've seen of Page had some conviction about his academic plans, sounded a lot like Brandon Newman, who was clear and consistent about what he wanted. The rest of his speech, about whittling down his other schools, sounded a little more rehearsed, so it stands out if you look at one of the rivals videos.

I guess, its the difference between a kid who wants to graduate, and the kid that wants to graduate with a degree in business, or broadcasting, or zoology, etc. Page has a plan - wants to major in finance or business (a feather in ND's cap) - and given the volume of comments about academics, this doesn't sound like some recruits who add it as a token response, or that academics would be an afterthought to them.

I understand reservations, because more times than not its not a big factor, but when he throws us into his top 5 immediately, then follows it up with two or three interviews re-emphasizing the importance of academics in his decision, I tend to believe him.

For whatever reason, I'm a big Page fan. If Patchan flies the coup, or if the staff feels a greater need for an offensive guard, I'll man an oar in the "Kenneth Page" boat. Maybe I just want to raid the Carolinas or something, after getting McNeil, Gray, and Blanton in consecutive years. But I saw enough to be impressed with Page - good find IK.

ESPNU AA Game brings Kenneth Page aboard
Offensive lineman Kenneth Page told ESPN's Craig Haubert that he's ready to participate in the inaugural ESPNU All-American Game.
Haubert said of Page's decision, "We are thrilled to add Page to the roster. He possesses excellent athletic ability for a big man, is one of the more sought after line prospects in the country and, could be a tackle or guard in college. Kenneth will line up at guard in the game, but his ability to move around will make him a player to watch all week long in practice."
Virtually every southern power has extended Page a scholarship offer, including Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, Auburn, and Clemson, just to name a few.

Kenneth is set to come out with a top ten list later this week, and although he hasn't released the full list yet, he mentioned that South Carolin, Clemson, and ND will definately be on that list.

I would love to land this kid. I know we're loaded at OG already, but one more, I don't think would hurt the boat any.

Looks like he'll be giving us an official look-see. No date yet, though.

Just get the kid on campus, and you never know what'll happen ...

Should be a great game to come for, IMO. I think we'll impress some people this year with what we put on the field.

From Scout's Recruiting Week in Review:

Notre Dame is also looking south to fill another one of the few remaining slots in the recruiting class of 2008. Kenneth Page, OG, 6-4, 290, A.C. Flora High School, Columbia, SC recently narrowed his list of suitors to ten and the Irish made the cut. In fact, Page has already scheduled his official visit to South Bend for the USC game on the weekend of 20 October.

“I’m very, very excited,” said Page of his plans to visit Notre Dame.

Undoubtedly, Notre Dame is excited to get an official visit. Scout.com ranks Page as a four-star prospect and the eleventh best guard in the nation. That weekend also precedes a bye week, so the coaching staff will have even more time to devote to the highly rated Page.

The Irish coaching staff stays in close contact with both Page and his head coach, Robin Bacon. Bill Lewis and Page talk about every other week, Weis sends periodic e-mails to him and Lewis and offensive line coach John Latina check in with Bacon once a week.

“Just a bunch of small talk,” Page said of his conversations with the Irish coaching staff. “They’re just checking up on me and my family, and still letting me know that they’re interested in me.”

Page will play mostly tackle this season, though he will see some time at guard. Like most top-rated high school recruits, he will also play on the other side of the ball as well. Page believes he has improved as a player during the offseason.

“I’m bigger, stronger and faster, and more aware of what’s going on,” said Page. Notre Dame will face stiff competition in earning Page’s signature. He is also considering Alabama, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Florida, Stanford, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina and Maryland.

i think we have a real good shot to get this guy... him and Trevor Robinson would be an awesome gets, and add to that CT or williams, best class since Jerome Bettis' class.

I think ND will only take one more OL, don't forget ND wants/needs another WR or 2 as well.

yeah your right, dumb mistake by me... but i think that just getting michael floyd would be sufficient for WR, putting us right at 23... i still kinda hope we would take both Page and Robinson, but i will trust weis and companys discretion. i just think that any great championship team is anchored by a great offensive and defensive line. the defensive line i think is definately covered for this year, but i wouldnt mind getting two more OL recruits. not that we definately need them, but i like the idea of great competition between great players... again just my opinion, and i will take weis's decision no matter what.

While I don't doubt that Trevor is a great prospect, I like the fact that Kenny comes from the southeast, SEC country. There is talent in abundance down there and the fact Kenny plays OT this year says something. I know he's projected at OG for college, but I think he's got a world of upside. I just feel that there is soo much talent down in the south, that it will better prepare Kenny for college ball the next 4 years. Again, nothing against Trevor, but I think Kenny would be just as good of a pick-up for us. Either or, it doesn't really matter a whole lot, but I think Page is our best bet at this point.
