I didn't read the article, just going off what I read and heard prior to today. The AFF was banking on more of a partnership with the NFL and it could have been if not for the PA, at least that's what I heard... maybe they are shifting the blame now or revealing new stuff. Either way I'm bitter, we need a NFL Minor leagues of sorts where the "ain't come to play no school" types can just freakin go and leave cfb alone.

The NFL should have kept that league alive so that the coming XFL was fighting against them, not the NFL. As soon as the XFL fizzled, pull the plug then.

This is good news for the XFL. Go Vince!

I 100% agree with your sentiment - this article mostly focused on the money problems from the get-go and the new owner basically didn't want to invest any more than he had so he just cut and run.

A useful secondary league for guys who want to bypass college would be beneficial for ND and great for guys who need some post-college years to develop into NFL ready players would be a great thing.

Never going to happen. The NFL doesn't want to be associated with failure and get any type of black eye. They would have had to be the primary force ($$$) behind the league
and the owners already have a feeder system they don't have to support or pay for.

Vince has the deep pockets to make this work. Hopefully he learned from his last attempt.

Seventy-two AAFL signees by NFL teams remain.

Projected to make their respective 53 man squad (6).

SS Derron Smith signed by the Vikings
SLB Davis Tull signed by the Jaguars (waived James Onwualu to make room)
ROT Brandon Greene signed by the Panthers
LOT Daniel Brunskill signed by the Niners
CB De’Vante Bausby signed by the Broncos
OT (Swing) Jaryd-Jones Smith signed by the Dolphins

Possibles (5):
QB Garrett Gilbert signed by the Browns - for second QB spot
WR Greg Ward signed by the Eagles - for the final WR spot
DE Damontre Moore signed by the Niners - depends on if they take another DL due to injuries
K Taylor Bertolet signed by the Jets - first team, but missed two extra points. Jets may pursue another option.
P Ryan Winslow signed by the Cardinals - in a battle with last year's punter who signed a two year contract

Projected Out - Greer Martini signed by Vikings.

K Elliott Fry signed by the Bears - released
