Nix is #7 DT with 5.9 Rating. Cwynar was #12 DT with 5.9 Rating |
Nix does matter, as does taking two more DT recruits (Nix counting as one of them.). Weis didnt get the dlineman early, last year only signed one. we need to take at least 4 pure defensive lineman in this class IMO. Nix saying "he cant explain ND" is a good thing. ND is impossible to put into words.

Specific reasons we need nix and another DT. We currently have none on board for 2010. Found a neat article from ISD talking about our DL recruiting vs. the other elite programs. Link below.

So summarizing the past 20 or so posts, Miami (there's more than one UM folks) isn't recruiting him anymore but he's going to sign with them and he can't put into words what he thinks about ND although he visited twice on his own dime.
??? jason can you summarize his status in a single post using more than sentence to do so. |
LOL. I say he ends up at Notre Dame. Is that enough of a summary?

I think Nix is more of a true Nose Tackle (which we need, and bad) than Cwynar is.
Cwynar is more of a run stopping/pass rushing hybrid body type. Nix is a big ox you throw in the middle of a defensive line, to gobble up blockers. I think Nix is at the very top of Tenuta's big board. |
Hope Nix does sign with us.
A true Nose plays only in a 3-4 scheme. Instead, we have two DTs... of which Nix would be fantastic.
For what it's worth, Haubert thinks ND still has a very good shot with Nix. Very last question is about Nix. Chat: Scouts Inc.'s football recruiting chat - SportsNation - ESPN
A commitment is not binding. You have to recruit kids the whole year through. Committed players should be in constant contact with recruiters. The fact that Nix has not been in contact with Maimi in 2 weeks shows how Miami feels about his committment

A true nose can play in 4-3 as well -- they're golden in running downs and goaline packages.
Anyway, I read a fantastic article over at ISD about Nix. Seems like the kid has come a very long way. He quit his football team several times his Fr. year ... and was just an overweight 15 year old who the coaching staff turned into one of the most sought after recruits in the country 4 yrs later. He also had grade issues, but those drastically improved his senior year. This sounds like a special kid -- but a kid that wouldn't surprise anybody if he commits and decommits several times to multiple schools. This one is going to go down to the wire. Also, the coaching staff is going to earn their paychecks keeping this kid on the up and up, imo. |
New ESPN article on Nix. Talks about he grew up in bad area but coaches and football turned him around. This is what he said about Notre Dame:

I can see him choosing Irish.
I am praying he does pick ND we truely need some run stoppers.
COMMITED
steve whilflong from isd is on the phone with him right now HE HAS COMMITED TO NOTRE DAME BOYS N GIRLS!!!!!!!!!!!
Nix just committed to ND, per ISD's Steve Wiltfong!!!!
Wow, finally some good news. Back to having 18 commits LOL... |
THANK YOU LOUIS NIX
Not sure how this happened, but it's at least some good news for a change. Now if we could just get a HC to commit to the Irish, we'd be in business.
Welcome aboard Nix.. Thank you for considering us for so long.. Glad to watch you in blue and gold for years to come..
WOW. great news.
completely out of left field. last thing I'd expect to happen this week. beautiful. |
Hell yes!!!! Thank you Mr. Nix!!!
I feel like Louis must know something that we don't. The timing of this is just plain out weird. I think he must know who the next head coach will be...IMO a great hire is coming soon. Thanks for being the indicator species, Louis Nix.
Welcome aboard, Louis!!!! :)
WOW, just WOW.
Not much else to say! Welcome aboard! Hope other recruits follow suit! |
Awesome news!!!! Welcome Louis!
Talk about surprising!
We really needed this, thank you and welcome Louis!!
FANTASTIC NEWS! Thanks for choosing the Irish Louis, and good luck!

Wait... what the hell just happened?
Christmas? Early? |
I certainly hope so. We don't want to be reading mindless rumors for the next few weeks, only to be disappointed.....again.
IT HAS TO BE STOOPS! |
Why does Rivals have him committed to Miami on 12/1/2009?
Come on back Mr. Martin...Nix is the DT we've been missing for years.
IT'S RANDY SHANNON!
He's been a silent commit since the USC game.
Great interview, just said he's 100% committed, no more visits. He called the coaches from LSU and FL and told them the news today (props to him for manning up); nice to pick up a kid from the south over Liar and Miles. Said he wanted to commit for weeks, even months, but finally pulled the trigger after talking with coach Alford today.
This is refreshing news in a tough time for Irish fans! (And props, once again, to CW and the staff for selling the school, not the staff)... |
Wow. It's probably been said, but the fact that he committed now makes me pretty certain that he was told who the next coach will be. That is even more amazing than Floyd committing right after we got destroyed by U$C.

Wow was having a bad week with Martin gone and no coach but Nix picking Notre Dame makes it all better.
This is shocking!!
Wow this is great news during a tough week. thanks to charlie and staff for selling the school. The timing of this is weird though. Do you think he knows something, or am i looking to much into this and maybe he just wanted to go to nd really badly?
this sorta made it sound like he just wanted to go to nd really badly Notre Dame Football - No Coach, No Worries, Nix Commits
Wow! We really needed interior line help. Lost a big one today, but got a great player in a position we needed. Welcome to Notre Dame Louis! Go Irish!
