Notre Dame commit excited to be named an All-American
    ByTOM LOY 14 hours ago

Tuscaloosa (Ala.) Hillcrest three-star punter Jay Bramblett showed up at a recent FBU Top Gun camp with the goal to get better and find himself in consideration for an invitation to the All-American Bowl.

Following his workout, he achieved his goals. For his efforts, the 6-2, 175-pounder was named to the All-American Bowl and he’ll take part in the prestigious game in San Antonio following his senior season.

“It’s awesome. It’s a dream come true,” said Bramblett. “You grow up watching college football and all the guys going into college are playing in the All-American games and this one is a big deal. Everyone knows about it.”

Bramblett committed to Notre Dame back on May 30 over schools such as Alabama, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri and Penn State. There is a lot of tradition and history between the All-American Bowl and the Fighting Irish. Bramblett is excited to keep that going in 2019.

“You got to keep the tradition going,” said Bramblett, the nation’s No. 2 punter in the class of 2019 according to 247Sports. “We have some really, really talented players and the recruiting classes coming in are amazing. They are in the top, up there with the schools just as big as them. It doesn’t get any bigger than that. It’s amazing.

“I’m excited about a big crowd,” added Bramblett. “I’m excited to play on NBC and in front of everybody. It’s awesome.”

At the time of his pledge, Bramblett went in-depth with Irish Illustrated about why he decided to commit to Notre Dame. In the end, it was an easy decision.

“My major thing was that it’s a place I can be successful at after college,” said Bramblett. “I want to be successful in life and I felt as though Notre Dame gives me the best chance at success.”

He made it clear that his connection with special teams coordinator Brian Polian factored into his decision. Bramblett really hit it off with Polian during his visit and he couldn’t pass on suiting up for the Irish at the next level.

“Coach Polian played a major part in my decision,” said Bramblett. He’s an awesome guy, a first-class guy. He’s a great coach, but beyond that, he’s a great guy. He’s a guy you can talk to and I know he’ll be there for me and help me through everything.”

Bramblett couldn’t be more fired up about his future at Notre Dame. But he isn’t the only one excited about what’s to come.

“They were excited for me,” said Bramblett. “They understand everything that comes with me going there and all of the benefits from going there. They understand that Notre Dame will help me succeed and the schools has everything we’ve been looking for in a school.”

With starting punter Tyler Newsome graduating after this season, Bramblett is expected to be the starter as a true freshman in South Bend upon arrival.

        And just in time!
Sounds like a great kid too.
Hoping he crushes it for 4 years!

I was the leader of the "Geoff Price 4 Heisman" campaign in 2007. He was the lone bright spot in that 2007 campaign, doing a great job of flipping field position to give opposing offenses more net offensive yards against our swiss cheese defense.
My two favorite football teams: Notre Dame, and whoever's playing Michigan.

Remember the snafu BK had a few years ago with the holder?!

These same thoughts ran through my mind when Book continued to be the holder while the starting QB. I cringed thinking how Book would get hurt on a PAT, only for BK to be a laughing stock again in managing his holders.
