Brian Dohn and now Wiltfong with CB's.

Be nice to get a quick commit, especially at CB.

Whoa. What a great start to 2019.

Look for more of the guys that visited to be Irish by spring. Staff hit a homerun this weekend.

                    Welcome, young man.

His highlights reminded me of something between Tariq Bracy and Isaiah McKenzie. Anyone else think his offensive tape stood out more?

This is a great get. I see him as a borderline 4*, no one that I had circled at the top of my board... But he's the type of Pool B, RKG prospect that I take early time. He has a low off field potential problem factor which includes high end HS academics where he performed well, he's a very good football player on both sides of the ball, he came up in a great developmental environment. He has quality connections in the program too. This is the type of guy I think they passed on last year in Greg Newsome and maybe DJ Johnson.

Glad they got on the board with a Derrik Allen disciple. High floor, high ceiling, no drama. I'm not even worried about the Bama & UGA offers that are coming.

Getting an early top 20ish CB on board is great. Happy to have him in thsi class and should help calm our nerves on the secondary this cycle.

Now hopefully he can become a recruiter and get others on board.

Hes a type of player who will be solid for us and with his commitment early, we can go after some big top level Cb's cuz even if we miss we won't be scrambling

Time to get KJ on the front page w the Jacob and Cade as those committed to the 19 class. And I think that section's about to get swole.

If he attends the Blue-Gold Game, recently offered safety Kyle Hamilton – a friend of his – could take the trip to South Bend with him.
^Kyle, who has since received offers from Minnesota-Missouri-Ohio State since being offered by ND. The kid is getting recognized - good to see him possibly come along and that they are friends.

Because a defensive staff is in place that now not only can coach, but also recruit.

BVG was truly a cancer to this program. Simply getting him out and allowing the coaches to coach and recruit on the defensive side of the ball was going to have it's benefits, by itself. Then a pretty big turn around season with some signature wins and the ND brand is pretty attractive again.

With that said, Elston, Lyght, Lea, Polian, etc. get after it on the trail.

At Lovett School, a college prep school with less than 700 students between grades 9-12, head coach Will Muschamp has to get creative in order to compete with dominant Atlanta-area programs.

Notre Dame cornerback commit K.J. Wallace is one of his favorite weapons.

“He’s a dynamic playmaker,” Muschamp said. “When he’s got the ball in his hands, he makes things happen.”

Aside from his primary position in the defensive backfield, Wallace was used at just about every skill position in the Lovett offense last fall.

After losing their starting quarterback to graduation, the Lovett coaching staff was stuck for a signal caller at the beginning of the 2017 season.

Muschamp looked to Wallace to generate offense.

“We just eliminate the thought process and thought, ‘let’s just hand it to (Wallace) on speed sweeps, let’s get him back there in a wildcat and let him be quarterback,’ Muschamp said. “We just tried to be as creative as we could without letting people know where the ball was going to go, to get him the ball because he does so many great things when he’s got it.”

Wallace also moved around on defense where he generated 63 tackles, a sack, and an interception during Lovett’s 7-5 season.

“Defensively, he was a safety, he was a corner, he played outside linebacker some,” Muschamp said. “He does a great job in the kickoff return game. I think he returned three for touchdowns. He can return punts, he can block punts. There’s just so many things that he can do. I see him being very tired on Friday nights, to be honest with you.”

Moving Wallace back-and-forth from the perimeter to the back end maximized his output.

“Our defensive coaches, the thought process was if we put (Wallace) at corner, he’s going to be on one side of the field the majority of the time and not involved in half or, or maybe three-quarters of the football game. At safety, he can be involved all over the field. And with his understanding of what we’re trying to get done, combined with his own basic football intelligence, it just made sense to let him run around back there and do what he does.”

Without a doubt, Muschamp sees a perfect fit for Wallace at Notre Dame.

“He’s a great kid,” Muschamp said. “He’s going to be great in the locker room, he’s going to be great in the classroom, he’s going to be great on the practice field and on the game field. He’s one of my favorites because he’s got a great work ethic and he plays at an incredibly high level. He’s fun to watch.

“I think Notre Dame is a great fit for him because he’s got that strong academic background and he wants to play on a high level.”

                                                                  Comment

A lot of good CB's are playing FS in their films for this reason. Then the services list them as safeties instead of corners and it creates a lot of second guessing. Jeffery Okudah, Julius Irvin, Chris Steele are all recent examples of this. Brian Williams might fit into this category too, if he chooses.

As of now, that isn't in the plans according to Hamilton, but we'll see if anything changes in the near future.

Kind of bizarre that he wants to visit two programs that were recruiting him, when he committed the first time around. Had those options then.
