    Phil's LT.

Kelly and Long following him now. Recent Ohio St offer and Penn St sniffing. Dad played line at Pitt. ND sitting good with Olmstead & Carroll. Recruiting Tippmann from Ft Wayne Bishop Dwenger. ND might be forced to jump in here too. Hate to wast Phil's influence. 2019 is gonna be a crazy O line Class. A lot of top talent are really interested in ND.

    Older freebie from Kevin.

Pine-Richland junior OT hearing from Notre Dame.

Notre Dame is tracking plenty of offensive linemen in the 2019 class, including a 6-foot-6, 255-pound prospect from a familiar program.

Notre Dame has its eye on junior Andrew Kristofic of Gibsonia, Pa., an offensive tackle who protects Irish quarterback commitment Phil Jurkovec at Pine-Richland.

The Irish aren’t alone in their interest in 6-foot-6, 255-pound Kristofic, who holds offers from Akron, Buffalo, Indiana, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Toledo, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Penn State is also in the mix and hosted Kristofic for a July camp and an unofficial visit on Sept. 9. The towering tackle is considering a trip to South Bend too.

“Obviously, priority number one is my high school team but I would definitely like to get up to a (Notre Dame) game this year,” Kristofic said. “We looked at the schedule and obviously the USC game would be an awesome game to go to. Certainly, nothing is set in stone but that certainly stands out as a game I would be really interested in going up to.

“Coach Dave Peloquin has reached out a couple times about coming up for a game this year. Coach (Mike) Elston, the defensive line coach, he’s reached out too, just to introduce himself and complimenting me so far on this season and looking forward to anything that might come in the future.”

Kristofic attended a summer linemen camp at Notre Dame before his sophomore year.

    It made an impression.

“I got to experience a day of camp with their offensive lineman coach and Zack Martin was there as a guest and spoke about the whole offensive line tradition at Notre Dame,” he said. “That part was really cool. It was a really good trip, there was a lot of really good things about it. It was a good experience.”

Kristofic and Jurkovec are close on and off the field. As a result, plenty of Notre Dame rhetoric has been passed to the junior from the four-star quarterback.

“I’ve talked to Phil about Notre Dame and the recruiting process a bunch,” Kristofic said. “Obviously, he’s always been extremely high on Notre Dame. I’ve heard about it through Phil on top of what I’ve already known. That’s been good.

“Obviously, Notre Dame is one of the premier programs in all of college football so that part is very intriguing. That would be pretty cool to play with Phil because of going to the same school and being such good friends and everything. We’ve kind of talked about that jokingly before, about that being pretty cool.”

Pine-Richland defeated WPIAL 6A No. 4 ranked Penn Hills on Friday, 43-6, and has outscored its opponents 179-42 during 4-0 start. Kristofic noted a new edge to Jurkovec’s game that has allowed him to dominate this fall.

“He has been great all three of his years so far,” Kristofic said. “I guess the biggest thing for him over the offseason was that he was able to gain some good weight and put on a lot of muscle. He’s a lot bigger and stronger this year. He can be a bit of a more physical, stronger player too, which can obviously help anyone. On top of his athleticism, it makes it that much harder to play against him.”

We've taken so many kids out of the Pittsburgh area that Pitt has wanted that I'm not sure it matters who played where. Still a little salty we passed on Damar Hamlin though.

Would trade Hamlin for David Adams all day

With us kicking off 19’ recruiting and OL being a hot topic I thought I’d post. It seems unanimous from the sites that Andrew is one of the OT’s high on the board for ND. They really like his long term potential. Sounds like he’s much higher on the board than we may think.

Jamie at ISD called him an LT prospect.

#3 OT prospect for ND on my board. If Carroll and Olmstead weren't so openly interested and 290lbs and if Kristofic wasn't a Pitt Legacy living in Pittsburgh, he'd be #1. I still love the chances of ND landing him and/or Tippmann even if both Carroll and Olmstead sign.

Every PA expert I saw not associated with 247/Rivals had him as the #1 PA recruit for 2019. I agree.

Even with Tippmann throwing slight shade at ND saying “ND is a great school but it’s not Wisconsin.” ??

The context is that I guess was a reporter asked if things would change if ND offered. The only good that I can take from this is that Tippmann didn't retweet it while some of his friends did. When kids are put on the spot, kids will many times say things to ease the pressure. Who knows what would happen if we offered. Not saying we would get him, but the door might not be totally shut as the tweet suggests.

ND didn't want him. That's why it's not Wisconsin. Wisconsin, Purdue, Iowa, Indiana, and Cincy. Not exactly an all star offer list.

Easy to say now... easy to back peddle out of if he gets lucky.

BTW... Mr Tippmann chose not to retweet it.

It's part of an interview from a Wiscy pay site that obviously asked something along the lines of... "Joe, should Badger Nation be scared AF of you flipping to ND if they offer?"

What's he supposed to say? Of course. I'm Audi 5000 as soon as ND offers?

Unannounced visit to ND and was on campus today. Was supposed to visit in April but pushed it up.

                                      Loy with the CB.

Carroll, Olmstead and Kristofic would be a heavy haul and just what I was hoping for early on

...but Olmstead has been dropping on my confidence meter and I notice some subtle omissions regarding him on some national analysts' pieces when it comes to ND.

Yep. From a high of 99+ down to a 93.677. Still would take ND over the field and give odds.

                                                Music to my ears.

Ironically, one of the pieces that struck me as odd was one of those Loy slideshows like... "Best fits" or "Most likely" where Olmstead was omitted. That followed up some Eastcoast stories/tweets that weren't the typical 'Done deal to ND' types.

Low ratings, big offer list though. 6'5" so he's probably 6'3", and 265?

We need OTs, and he doesn't have ideal size. What does IE nation think here?

Well he's got offers from ND, pOSU, Wisconsin, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Michigan and 21 other teams. But I'm sure we are all smarter then those coaching staffs. So it's a hard pass from me. I have no idea what those 28 teams are smoking.

Seems pretty unanimous among the ND sites that the staff views him as a top of the board OL. Ahead of some of the usual suspects that get talked about around here.

Also, he's a legit 6'5'', his rankings will probably increase a great deal as he's blown up and picked up a ton of offers since he was ranked. So you're probably looking at a high 3*/low 4* recruit that I think is a definite take as a part of a 5-6 man OL class.

Given the path that Phil took and the fact that as an OL their is not a lot of pressure to EE. I'm guessing he won't EE and will want to be on the basketball court next year.

If you wandered into Pine-Richland’s weight room a couple of years ago, you might have happened onto a skinny tight end named Andrew Kristofic. At the time, Kristofic was just some lanky kid growing into his body and beginning to scratch the surface of his prodigious talent at the end of his freshman year.

Nowadays? He’s a 6-foot-5, 275-pound monster with offers from Notre Dame, Clemson, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Georgia, Michigan, Florida, and most of the other top programs in the country. Kristofic has blossomed into an elite tackle with one of the best offer lists in the country.

“He’s got a huge ceiling as an offensive tackle,” Pine-Richland coach Eric Kasperowicz told Land of 10. “He’s 6-foot-5 and he’s 275 pounds. He’s very raw and still has a lot of room to put muscle on his frame. He’s got an extremely long wingspan. He’s an athletic kid – ex-quarterback, ex-tight end, now he’s a tackle. He’s a hoops players and he’s extremely athletic, so I think he’s a dream as a left tackle.”

After nearly a year of experiencing – at times enjoying and others, enduring – the recruiting process, Kristofic is preparing to wrap this thing up.

“I want to commit as soon as I feel comfortable doing it. It’s kind of been a long process, so I’m now in the process of making a decision and making sure I find the school that I feel comfortable excited about,” Kristofic said. “I want to take my time looking over everything – I’ve been on a lot of visits and talked to a lot of people for a long time, so it’s kind of taking everything in now and processing it all.”

Kristofic has notched nearly 30 scholarship offers, but four programs have managed to stand out from the crowd.

“As of right now, I really like Notre Dame, Clemson, Ohio State, and Wisconsin. Those would be the four schools I feel best about,” he detailed.

It’s been around six months since Kristofic last visited Wisconsin, but the other three programs on that list have all received unofficial visits from the Pittsburgh-area offensive lineman. Trips to Ohio State (Jan. 27), Notre Dame (March 27), and Clemson (April 7) have set the tone in Kristofic’s recruitment lately.

The Buckeyes, Irish, and Badgers have been mainstays in Kristofic’s recruitment since the fall, but Clemson’s arrival as a serious contender is a new development. His Feb. 1 offer from Clemson and subsequent April unofficial visit have made the Tigers a force in this battle.

“It was an awesome trip to Clemson. I had high expectations going into it and they exceeded all of those expectations. It was a great trip. The pictures and everything, they don’t do it justice to how amazing that place is. It’s easy to see why they’re so successful whenever you talk to all of those guys that are down there,” Kristofic explained. “They have a whole bunch of lakes right on campus. Campus is beautiful in and of itself aside from the football stuff. And even all of the football stuff – that’s brand new, it’s all state-of-the-art.”

As noted above, Kristofic is closing in on making his commitment. It wouldn’t surprise me if his decision came before the end of April, but you may also see programs try to push for official visits from the blue-chip tackle.

Notre Dame is the perceived leader for Kristofic, owning 100-percent of 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions after a successful unofficial visit and years of relationship-building. Ohio State and Clemson may attempt to get Kristofic to take more visits to change his mind on that front or change the momentum here.

“I’m not sure if I’m going to [take more visits] or not. If anything, it would just be re-visiting those four schools and making sure I have the good feel again when I go back,” Kristofic said. “I wouldn’t say I’d visit any new schools at this point, not this far along at least.”

With Kristofic’s reveal that he’d be locking into his final four programs and going into decision mode, I asked the Pennsylvania native to break down each of those finalists and explain what the appeal of those programs are.

Ohio State – “With what they’re doing right now and producing guys at the next level is just top of the charts. The NFL and everything like that are great. The resources and everything they can provide you with are great. I feel super comfortable and like all of the coaches a lot.”

Clemson – “They’re like the hottest team in the country right now and they’re trending upwards. They’re really at the top right now. Like all of the schools, I feel very comfortable with the coaches and program.”

Wisconsin – “What Wisconsin does for offensive linemen is unbelievable. I feel like that’s a great school in general and I feel really comfortable with all of the coaches there.”

Notre Dame – “Notre Dame has lots of Pittsburgh guys and there’s a lot of comfort level with having so many guys from this local area up there. That’s another plus for them, I would say.” [Author’s note: Among those former Pittsburgh natives is 2018 Pine-Richland graduate and All-American quarterback Phil Jurkovec, Kristofic’s teammate and close friend.]

Although he’s ranked as only the No. 50 tackle in the 2019 class and the No. 516 prospect overall in the 247Sports composite rankings, it’s clear that Kristofic’s offer list and potential greatly outweigh that ranking. Coaches and players close to him consistently praise his growth as a player over the years and marvel at how much more he can still achieve.

“With Kristofic, he’s tall and he’s got a great frame. At times, that becomes an issue with mobility, but honestly he’s gotten a lot better from where he was,” Pine-Richland assistant and strength and conditioning coach Ed Malinowski told Land of 10. “I think he’s becoming an extremely powerful lineman because of what he’s done in [the weight room].

“I think the one thing that Kristofic does really well in my opinion is that he moves in space very well for a big guy. I think a lot of that has to do with playing basketball. Honestly, I couldn’t define his ceiling. He does a lot of things incredibly well. I don’t think there’s a whole lot that he doesn’t already do incredibly well. If he can add some more size and a little bit more upper body strength, that’s about the only thing he needs to add to his game.”

I currently have my Crystal Ball prediction placed on Notre Dame for Kristofic, but I’m going to continue to monitor this recruitment closely. I think the Irish have the edge if he had to decide tomorrow, but Ohio State and Clemson seem to be within striking distance and could make Brian Kelly and company sweat if they secured additional visits from Kristofic.

Regardless, he is one of the best prospects to come out of the Pittsburgh area in recent memory, joining names like Jurkovec, Ohio State’s Malik Hooker, Pitt’s Paris Ford, and Penn State’s Lamont Wade. The Buckeyes are also recruiting Western Pennsylvania prospects like 2019 cornerback MJ Devonshire and 2021 athlete Derrick Davis Jr., who have offers, and 2019 defensive back Joey Porter Jr., who does not.
