One humanities degree is the same as another. In principle, he now has developed skills in:

    1) Teamwork/consensus building
    2) Reading/quick comprehension
    3) Effective writing
    4) Applications of cultural differences (relevant to marketing/advertising/nonprofits operating in the third world).

Additionally, he now has the "football-enhanced" alumni network going for him. Good thing he chose ND or else he'd be leaving the NFL with far fewer advantages.

Former Notre Dame DL Kona Schwenke Passes Away At 25

Notre Dame fans are mourning the loss of a former Fighting Irish defensive lineman tonight. Kona Schwenke has passed away at 25.

Schwenke played for the Irish from 2010-13 before embarking on a short NFL career. He helped Notre Dame reach the 2012 BCS National Championship Game.

Details on Schwenke’s death are scarce right now. It sounds like the death was unexpected.

Former Notre Dame wide receiver Robby Toma posted a heartfelt tribute to Schwenke on Instagram.

“God has a plan. We will tell the stories of how things were different with you. I love you my brother. Thank you for everything over the years. I am grateful for the time we got to spend with you on earth. My heart hurts but I know the memories we have will last a lifetime. _\,,/ look over us my USO. My prayers are with my Schwenke Family.”

The cause of his death was not announced. Schwenke's agent, Jerry Marlatt, said Schwenke died in his sleep.

Schwenke was a member of the 2012 team that went to the BCS national championship game and lost to Alabama. He played in 31 games for Notre Dame, recording 30 career tackles. As a senior in 2013, Schwenke recorded 23 total tackles, including six solo.

He won the Irish's Next Man In Award as a senior.

Schwenke went undrafted but was signed to the rosters of several NFL teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks. He never appeared in a game, and his NFL career ended in 2016.

Schwenke played in the Spring League this season and caused a fumble by former Heisman winner Johnny Manziel in an April 8 game.

Baltimore Ravens safety Bennett Jackson Jr. and offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley were among several former Irish players to post memories of Schwenke on social media.

Weird to think that he passed three years ago just last week. Even weirder yet to think from his recruiting class we've lost two of our most notable players in Kona and Nix. It's sad, but I hope they know how appreciated they were.
