This kid might end up being a 5-star prospect.

Glad to see ND in super early with the offer. Hopefully the interest doesn't fade in favor of the football factories over the next two or three years.

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Pickerington Central certainly looked the part of the defending Division-I state champions in the state of Ohio Sunday afternoon when they beat up on Chicago Phillips in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown.

Several of Central's top players hold Division-I offers including 2021 wide receiver/cornerback Lorenzo Styles Jr. He showed off the speed, athletic ability and length that has already resulted in offers from Boston College, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt.

Styles Jr. impressed on both sides of the football for someone making their first varsity start, and he could project to either a wideout or cornerback at the next level.

"It was great playing today and we've been preparing for this since December," Styles Jr. stated. "Our coach gives us our roles, and it's up to us to execute our assignments like we are supposed to. I like playing both sides of the ball, and don't really have a preference for either one."

"For my play, I would say I did well offensively, but defensively I feel like I could have done better at defensive back," he added. "I dropped a sure interception, and if I had caught that one I think it would have completed my day."

"It was a good learning experience for me today, even though I did play varsity last year as a freshman," he continued. "I'm a better player now than last year because I'm older and I understand the game better. I think my focus is that I'm going to handle my role on either side of the ball, and do what I'm asked to do."

Styles Jr. is clearly on the recruiting radar as one of the top 2021 prospects in the Midwest, and that offer list should only continue to expand over time. He will be taking a big recruiting visit this weekend.

"I will be at Notre Dame this Saturday for their game with Michigan, and I'm pretty excited to be there," Styles Jr. admitted. "They offered me after being at their camp, and that offer meant a lot to me. Notre Dame is a great football program, and a very prestigious school as well. I try to do my part in the classroom, as well as the football field."

"I have talked with Coach (Mike) Elston about me coming on the visit, and he seems like a good guy," he noted. "I'm still pretty young so I'm not sure what position they're recruiting me for. I worked out as a wide receiver at their camp, and I tested well with a 4.43 forty time. This will be my first time there for a game."

"I also want to get to Penn State for a game and we have had contact," he said. "I think Penn State is a great program and I want to get there for a game. I also have talked to Ohio State a couple times about camp information and stuff. My dad did play for Ohio State, but I need to find the best fit for me. I'm looking for the school that cares about me as a football player and an individual, plus academics is so important to me."

Although Styles is not yet rated by 247Sports, he is going to be listed as one of the top 2021 prospects in Ohio when he becomes ranked.

Then add Dad's a former Buckeye and it gets tougher.

But a lot can change in 2 years. They may not want him as other guys on their board develop more.

One would think this is definitely a tough pull from OSU. But, ND getting in on him early is helping. This being his 3rd visit already.

pOSU is taking as many as 5 WR's in the '20 class... I wonder who they're targeting aside from Styles in the '21 class. It's gonna be small, so they must think very highly of him.

Billy Greene with a CB for the Buckeyes. Really, really need to get him back on campus with Buchner ASAP. Billy also reported he will take some visits this fall

have not felt enough conviction to enter a 247Sports Crystal Ball forecast for Styles to date as I've always seen this coming down to a battle between Notre Dame and Ohio State, and until recently I was hearing the Fighting Irish held a small lead.

As Buckeye fans have seen often since he was named wide receiver coach nearly a year ago, assistant coach Brian Hartline has been absolute money as a recruiter. From what I was told this weekend at the Pickerington Central scrimmage, my thinking is that Hartline will strike gold again and land Styles.

I have gone ahead and placed a 247Sports Crystal Ball pick on Ohio State to land four-star wideout Lorenzo Styles Jr.

The 247Sports spotlight was on class of Central four-star wide receiver / defensive back Lorenzo Styles Jr., one of the top two-way athletes in the class of 2021. Although he didn't get a ton of touches on offense, he played every down on defense and showed why he's a terrific athlete, as he locked down one side of the field all night long.

Confidence has been growing on ND's side of things for awhile now. Both ISD and II have been saying that ND is in a good spot.

Don't get me wrong I think he's a very good WR but I think his upside might be even better as a CB. Reminds me a bit of Minkah Fitzpatrick.
