ESPN has the Irish Women's BBall team #1 in their way, way too early pre-season rankings for next year:

Notre Dame Fighting Irish lead way in way-too-early preseason top-25 rankings

Would be awesome to win a National Championship (and put a whooping on UConn along the way)!!!
The future of Fighting Irish football is looking bright!!!

                '17 Danielle Patterson F 6-3 NY

ND has been recruiting her for sometime. I hope the ND recruiter wasn't Niele Ivey.

Danielle Patterson of New York's Mary Louis leaps up women's basketball recruiting rankings for 2017 class

                By Walter Villa for ESPN
                5/5/16

                ...

Patterson narrowed her college search to four schools: Notre Dame, St. John's, Tennessee and Virginia.

Patterson grew up a Tennessee fan -- Candace Parker is her favorite player -- and St. John's is her hometown team. Patterson has visited St. John's and Virginia and plans to tour Notre Dame and Tennessee in the fall.

                ...
"I'm very comfortable with the four schools on my list," Patterson said. "Those four coaching staffs have known me for a while. St. John's has been watching me since the fifth grade. ... To just put a new school in the loop wouldn't be right."

Aside from being loyal, Patterson is smart. She has a 3.8 GPA and plans to major in sports management. After her playing days are over, she wants to be a coach. But that figures to be many years down the road.

                ...

Congrats to Niele and to her mentor, Muffet

Haven't found any announcement of a hire. Did find two tweets that appears to still be open.

Also: I never said that Ivey & Banghart were “the finalists” for the job—in fact, source says at least 1 other coach (P5 HC) turned job down

Regarding that Niele Ivey to Vandy report from late last night, a very good source has cast some doubt on whether it's actually a done deal.

Probably for a lot more $$$ than the WNBA pays.

Here's an article on SEC WBB HC compensation for the 14-15 season. UTN had a $565K guarantee. At UK, the coach had a $1.1 million guarantee. The Fever doesn't pay like that.

Pre-season number one. From everything I've heard this could be McGraws most talented team.

                                      1) Notre Dame
                                      2) Baylor
                                      3) UConn
                                      4) South Carolina
                                      5) Louisville

Notre Dame Fighting Irish ranked No. 1 in Associated Press preseason Top 25, four-time defending champion UConn Huskies third

I think this is Muffet's most talented and deepest team. Muffet has a very nice blend of experienced players and young, talented players. If they don't win the championship this year, something would have gone horribly wrong. The starting 5 will probably be:

Lindsay Allen- Best PG in the country
Arike Ogunbowale- IMO, could be best scorer in ND history when all said and done.
Marina Mabrey- A better all around player than her older sister.
Brianna Turner- Probably the best player in the country.
Kathryn Westbeld- A nice compliment to Turner and is a very solid #4.

                                        Bench:
Kristina Nelson- Most improved player on the team. If they can get consistent production out of her 6'5" frame, watch out.
Ali Patberg: Coming off a torn ACL. She is the future replacement when Allen graduates. Was a big time recruit in high school.
Jackie Young- True freshman and former 5 recruit. Indiana's all-time leading scorer for both men's and women's basketball combined.
Erin Boley: Another true freshman and former 5 recruit. Similar build to Westbeld but I have heard she is a better scorer.
Mychal Johnson: One of Muffet's best perimeter defenders. She won't light up the score board but players like her are very important in March.

It looks like the defense is greatly improved this year, last year we were often just outscoring teams. Hopefully that continues- that is what it will take to win a title.

Really interested to see how she does. Saw her play against my granddaughter a couple of times and was impressed with her offensive skill set. Good head on her shoulders.

Notre Dame (3-0) went up 7-0 but couldn't extend the lead to double digits until early in the second half and couldn't shake the Phoenix (2-1), even after going up by 17 midway through the third quarter.

Green Bay cut the lead to 63-58 with a basket by Jessica Lindstrom with 3:41 left. The Phoenix had a chance to get closer but Mehryn Kraker airballed a 3-point attempt and Turner scored on an alley-oop pass.

Kraker cut the lead to 66-61 with a 3-pointer, but Marina Mabrey made two free throws with 35 seconds left and then deflected a 3-point attempt by Lindstrom. The Phoenix cut the lead to five points again on a 3-pointer by Lindstrom and the final four-point deficit on a 3-pointer by Frankie Wurtz with 3 seconds left.

                                                                      BIG PICTURE

Notre Dame: The Irish struggled offensively early against the Phoenix, who ranked ninth nationally in scoring defense last season at 52.2 points a game, but managed to pull out the victory despite being held to 36 percent shooting.

                                                                      UP NEXT

Like Stanford, Green Bay was hot from 3 (12/25) and I think there was a couple times they hit 3s on 3 or 4 consecutive possessions. So considering Green Bay was lights out from 3, Notre Dame shot less than 40%, and that Green Bay is actually a pretty good team, I'd say this game could've been a lot worse.

Arike is off to a tremendous start. Through 3 games she has scored 30, 13, and 18 points through the first 3 games. She's well on her way to being in the same category as Skylar Diggins, Kayla McBride, and Jewel Loyd.

They play #17 Washington on Sunday at 3:00 ET for the WNIT Championship.

She really has yet to find her groove back. It's pretty normal, since she haven't had the same time as others to prepare for the season, we the surgery... We are a work in progress, but things look positive.

In the both of the last two games we've seen the Irish build a comfortable lead and then let the other team hang around or get back into the game. ND should not be getting outscored in the 4th quarter at home.
