I'm pretty sure thats the only reason the Sox have stayed profitable over all these years of sucking.

ISD said when he showed up that his length would indicate that Shark end could be a possibility depending on his future growth. Also, he came in at 195 and is apparently already up to 213. Seems kind of crazy but that's what they said.

            Really excited about his potential.

they say he plays like his hair is on fire, I would love to see him get some snaps a LB this weekend vs bowling green.

                  • He’s playing well enough that they may not 4 game RS him. Ekwonu and Bertrand will for sure. Now if that happens he better get a real shot at the two deep this Spring.

He's viewed as a Rover, though, isn't he? At least, he's listed at 213. That's a tough depth chart to bust through.

OTOH, if he could put on another 20 pounds...

I believe he started at Rover and then moved to Buck.

                        • The sooner he moves to WDE, a la Oghoufo, the better, in my opinion.

yeah I don't want him to waste a redshirt year buried on the depth chart just covering kicks.

                            • I have to agree.

I get a bad feeling we're going to do the same thing with Marist that we did with Jamir Jones.

                              • A relatively late addition to the 2019 class and he's quickly turning into a stud. Can't wait to see what he can do this year.

                                        • Also, he’s up to 226. Which due to his length still looks skinny but is a nice improvement from 213. Been a huge fan of Marist. Excited to watch him this season.

Quote this under "things people haven't said all year" lol

But for real, I just KNEW he had to be special for Clark to give him so many reps. People slammed on the guy early on (then injury? or covid? both) but dude FLASHED today.

If LBs keep playing like this watch out

Would have to rewatch full game for a true grade but man I’m gonna have have nightmares of watching how slow Simon was to react on plays and I’ll be relieved with how Marist was able to make plays.

It’s interesting that it seems each one on the Buck linebackers bring a slightly different skill set that works well against different offenses.

Simon was a stud against Clemson, by far his best game. Simon seems to also do well in coverage which seems to have severed him well against Clemson.

Marist was a stud today against UNC, by far his best game. Playing down hill and blitzing seems to be his strong suit.

Kiser...not sure if he has just one specialty, but he seems pretty well rounded. His breakout game was obviously USF.

No wonder JGH transferred out. ND is loaded with young talent at LB, specifically Buck LB. And I didn’t even mention Jack Lamb who seems to still be recovering from his injury and finding his way.

However, it seemed like he wasn’t physical enough with the OL or RB’s on those opportunities, previously. Not tonight. He was popping guys and knocking them back.

This kid is the best player on Punahou's defense, hands down. He was a superior LB, even with Tufono next to him. He has no fear, and he flashes all over the place. The most recent player I would compare him to is Jeremy Ioane. Yes, the hair will automatically remind people of Polamalu.

From all the games I watched, this year, I'd consider him the third-best defensive player in Hawaii behind Tuitele and Botelho. I tell you this, though, I think Botelho will be the best defensive player to come of out Hawaii since Manti.

Hard to say, football hasn't started up. I know people are high on Tafiti, but I don't think he's going to be a game-changer at the college level. He has good potential upside, but I can see him being a solid role-player as opposed to dominant end. Maybe I'll be wrong. He's benefitted from three years of varsity ball (Punahou stopped fielding a JV team), so his technique has a little more polish. He's still learning how to use his hands, like most high school players.

If anything, keep an eye on St. Louis High School. With the Lee Brothers there, the recruiting pipeline that Punahou benefitted from went dry. I believe ND is looking at a couple of linemen at SLHS, right now. These are big mauler types. Kahuku is in all sorts of chaos. It will be interesting to see how their team fares. No one else has players that caught my eye, last year. Not big-time college potential, anyway.

The program took a downturn in those years, and Punahou really picked up their efforts to bring in kids who probably would have ended up playing for SLS. If not for Marcus Mariota and his Heisman win, SLS may not have survived. Not just the athletic program, but the whole school.

I think you're going to see SLS dominate for a few years, again. There's a group of former Kamehameha players whose kids play at SLS. They call themselves the Kamehameha Grad - St. Louis Dad group. Schools like Punahou, Iolani, etc. can't even field JV teams. There's not enough interest in football.
