For that game, practically every side is the ND side. It's effectively 2/3 ND fans whenever they play there.

Hard to believe that ND hasn’t won at Stanford since that debacle of the 2007 season. Time for ND to get yet another monkey off their back.

The east side of the stadium is where most ND fans sit based on the four or five games I’ve seen there. The stadium is actually a really good place to watch a game in that it’s relatively small and you get a good view of the action from any of the the seats between the 30 yard lines regardless of how high up you are.

It’s a pain in the ass leaving after a game due to traffic so I would suggest hanging out for about an hour post game if you are driving to let traffic die down.

Thinking about making it out to this game. Anything worth checking out before the game? Best place to find tickets?

Dear God I hope so.

It's just a weird place to have a slump in. Well documented that they don't pack the place.

Beating Shaw in his own backyard would be a great feeling.

How much can we expect these tickets to be? Checked Stanford site and they are going for minimum $100 before fees. Seems like a lot for Stanford

Every year it is 50%+ ND fans. The demand from ND fans given that ND was 12-0 last year is going to continue to drive up the cost.

Shaw reportedly going to more of a Spread (not tempo) passing offense which goes against what led to all their previous success. This could be what gets his program over the hump or it could blow up in his face.

Well they do have an elite QB and lack their power run game of years past... but to your point, it was their unique offensive style that led them to success in a conference full of speed but lacking in power/toughness. Certainly will be interesting to see if he sticks to it or if it's all smoke and mirrors.

He doesn't have squat at RB so he really has no choice. If he tried the "GROUND AND POUND" offense of years past he'd be looking at 3rd and long all night long with this team. OL took a step back last year as well, but they do have some highly rated players there. RB not so much, nothing close to McCaffery or Bryce Love.

I think Costello is a stud, personally.

He'll be drafted far before Book.

Being drafted higher =/= better college quarterback.

Just now looking at his stats last year and they're good, but does anybody know what happened with the game vs Pitt in the Sun Bowl? 6/17 for 35% and no TDs. What the hell

It was really windy. FWIW, the Pitt quarterback was 11/29 for 136 yards.

http://www.espn.com/college-football/qbr/_/year/2018 - finished #6 lat year with an atrocious line and non-existent running game

Right now he's projected as a first round pick even in a loaded year at QB. I don't know where you draw the line for "elite" but for me it's top 10 at his position.

Were I to guess, I would say most are basing their opinions of Costello on last year’s ND game. That would be shortsighted b/c, as was stated; he’s a 1st round pick.

I would list him under the “very good” category. Elite quarterbacks, to me, are top 3 in college and sure fire NFL starters. I know we had a good defense, but he didn’t impress me at all last year in South Bend.

I kind of scratched my head too when I saw that word thrown when speaking about Stanford's QB. "Elite" can be funny as it is based on someone's interpretation. LAX says top 10 at each position, you think top 3 at each position, and I think regardless of position it is the best of the best.

IE: every Heisman candidate is probably considered elite of course, but that wouldn't include the big uglies like Big Q who was certainly elite. Just a matter of understanding, I think, but the way I think of "elite" is the best among the best.

Another good example in my head: At the camps, all the RBs were fast, but Tyree was elite.

Someone else made another good point stating the ND folks are probably judging Costello's overall ability on last year's game. I'm certainly in that crowd as I've never actually watched him play against anyone else.

As of now, I only see two elite quarterbacks currently in college football: Lawrence and Tua. I think Lawrence is a true generational talent. Idk if I’m 100% sold on Tua in the NFL though.

I would agree. Although Lawrence is a little more elite than Tua IMO. Maybe, just maybe, Book can be in that conversation by mid-year as well.

Not that round trip plane ticket though

If we can't beat this squad on the farm, I'm giving up hope that we'll ever win there again.
