Hopefully he visits for Pitt or FSU.

Brother Woody played at Va Tech and now with the Cowboys or CFL(?) Woody's bio says he was born in Chicago. That's a plus if the family is from there originally.

His dad coached CJ Sanders per the 247 freebie below.

Top 150 junior DE talks Notre Dame offer

By KEVIN SINCLAIR

Notre Dame added a Top 150 defensive end to the 2020 offer list on the weekend.

Out of Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth, a top shelf private school with a strong football program, Tyler Baron has been racking up Power Five offers with Notre Dame being the most recent.

The 6-foot-4 ½, 245-pound prospect’s offer list includes Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Kentucky, LSU, Maryland, Mississippi State, North Carolina State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, TCU, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and others.

Despite growing up the South, the two-sport athlete (also playing basketball) knows Notre Dame well.

“I talked to coach (Mike) Elston, and I thought it was honor, really,” Baron said. “I’ve definitely watched (Notre Dame football) because in high school, my dad coached C.J. Sanders before he went to Notre Dame. Watching him, it was exciting.

“(Elston) seems like a great guy. He really knows what he wants in a player. It was an honor to have him describe that role in which he recruits and for me to be one of those guys.”

Certainly, in attending a high-quality school like Ensworth, Baron would be conditioned to the academic requirements if he were to choose the Irish.

“One day, football is going to end,” Baron said. “I definitely want to have something to help me live after that.

“I definitely want to go up there and get a feel for South Bend and see what they have going on.”

On the field, Baron is having a big year in a variety of roles.

The big-bodied athlete plays physical football at both strong and weak-side defensive end, at outside linebacker, and tight end.

With his combination of size and power, his ability to set the edge, and disrupt the run and pass, strong-side end appears to be the most likely spot for Baron on the college stage. However, the junior edge rusher is receiving interest at multiple defensive positions.

“(Schools are interested in me playing) strong-side (defensive end), weak-side (defensive end), outside linebacker,” Baron said. “Really just a mixture of them all.”

For the Irish, two current commits make up the 2019 defensive end class while a strong group of 2020 d-ends are showing serious interest in Notre Dame. With the performance of Mike Elston’s current group, that interest is expected.

Look for the Irish to push for a game day visit for Baron during either of its two true home games ahead, Pittsburgh on Oct. 13 or Florida State on Nov. 10.

With plenty of national attention on Notre Dame’s defense, it’ll be interesting to see if that interest will translate to recruiting wins.
