Jamie from ISD has been mentioning this guy for a couple weeks. Impressive film, but is he really gonna leave Texas?

No doubt he's an athlete with burst but what I see is a guy 20lbs or 1 year behind John Waggoner when it comes to competing in top tier, P5 football.

Waggoner and O'Rourke be like... tic toc?

Per ISD, he just received an offer. Ossai's coach notes that Joseph and the family are devout Catholics and he wants to be an engineer. Open to leaving the state. Elko please!

Far, far higher ceiling on this kid. Plus he's a fit for drop end in Elko's defense and the other two would have to be more SDE.

This kid is elite <------- I know.... .01%

There's no difference in this kids athleticism and overall skill than Beal, IMO.

Top 5 want in this class for me.

This kid literally just jumped to #1 on my board I think. I don't see any elite WDE's that are realistic, no idea if this kid is or not but until I hear he isn't I will commence hoping. Year after year I think our biggest weakness is our ability to get a consistent pass rush. Therefore my #1 need in literally every class is an elite pass rusher, it would help solve so many other problems.

Got to get he and his family in town on an official visit this fall and blow them away. Believe he's from a Catholic family.

Yup. Comes up every article and sounds like he'll give ND a real shot, but the Aggies have always been in a good position.

I'd guess that the Aggies are the team to beat, but the fact that we're in the conversation is awesome!!

Even if Sumlin is not the coach in 2018? Which is a real possibility.

He lives about 1 hour and 15 minutes from College Station and wants to be an engineer. I think the Aggies are gonna be in it and will probably win this battle.

With a top three of Notre Dame, Texas and Texas A&M, Conroe Oak Ridge 247Composite four-star defensive end Joseph Ossai has already knocked out one official visit this fall. The 6-4, 220-pounder made his first ever trip to South Bend, Indiana to see the Irish take on Temple in their home opener.

While Brian Kelly’s program made a strong first-impression on Ossai and his family, it doesn’t appear they did enough to overtake any of the in-state programs on his list.

“They won their game so that was good for them,” Ossai told Aggie Scoop. “I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was. They really impressed my parents so that’s another positive. Right now, things aren’t too shaken up.”

Ossai elaborates on what he meant by “things aren’t too shaken up,” following his first ever visit to Notre Dame.

“It’s still A&M and Texas,” he said. “It’s still too early to tell how things are going to pan out with both of them. I’m still going to take those two visits, and after those two visits, time should pass so everything should be solid by then.”

Ossai, like many across the country, watched the Aggies blow a 34 point lead in week 1. The coveted defender discusses his feelings watching meltdown that unfold.

“There’s two ways to look at it,” he said. “You can see it as they suck or you look at it as they need someone on defense who can help.”

Which way does the All-American look at the situation?

“That they need help on defense,” he said.

The No. 10 ranked WDE in the country, per the 247Composite rankings, gives his candid take on Kevin Sumlin and his approach to evaluating schools.

“It’s more of a school thing for me,” he said. “As my coach told me when I began this process, ‘Don’t fall in love with a coach because a coach can leave easily.’ So it’s more of a school things for me. If Sumlin leaves, or if a freak accident happens and (Tom) Herman leaves, or (Brian) Kelly leaves, it won’t impact my decision.”

He added, “I’m still evaluating both schools. It’s still about education. All three of these schools have really great education so it doesn’t make things easier but my parents just want me to go where I’ll be happy.”

The all-district pass-rusher updates his communication level with the Aggie and Longhorn coaches.

“I talked to Coach (Oscar) Giles recently and we’ve been communicating a lot,” he said. “I know both schools are in-season so I’ve been trying to give them all some space so they can focus on their guys because I’m focusing on my guys. I told A&M to come see me during the Oak Ridge versus The Woodlands game on October 21st.”

Tom Herman also had a rocky start to his 2017 campaign which caught Ossai by surprise.

“I don’t know what to say about that one,” he said. “He has a track record of doing good. I just think it’s going to take a while for them to click and start firing on all cylinders.”

Ossai says he’s looking to set up his official visits to College Station and Austin soon but is trying to work around his high school schedule so no dates have been circled on the calendar.

He also plans on signing on the first signing day period in December.
