I don't see what is so dirty about it, honestly. Maybe I am just too old-school when I think about football.
LOL. Yea they've changed a lot of rules regarding the hitting of QBs and other helmet to helmet contact on defenseless players. That was dirty. It was nothing more than getting a cheap shot on the QB during an interception return. You want to block him block him, but it was just a chance to lay him out.

Same thing happened to Rodney Peete.

And if you look closely at the Tide player his is NOT leading with his head, but his shoulder. That was no more dirty than Stams' hit against Peete during the same type of play.

So if he is suspended, I would be surprised because if you look at it in real time it looks vicious but it was not dirty...at least passed on that GIF. Certainly no different than Stams getting in a free cheap shot against Peete on Smagala's INT RET for a TD.

Bama looked quite similar to ND from what I saw. They looked to wear down the D line of Georgia in the second half in the same way we have done that to opponents all year. However (or as Corso puts it, "Not so fast..."), our D line is in much better condition than Georgia's and much more athletic. If Bama comes out in the 3rd and tries to push us around, I think they are going to be in for a surprise.

Also, someone said it earlier, where were Georgia's LB's. Bama is going to find it tough just to get to the second level and when they do, I think our LB's will be up to the task.

I am getting really excited for this game. I think it could be a slugfest and might even turn out to be one for the ages.

If ND can play sound, stout football on both lines and take care of the football, they will stay in this game and keep it close. We can't afford to put ourselves in a hole with penalties or turnovers.

Something overlooked by alabama, IMO, is alabama has not dealt with a TE/QB combo like they will against ND. alabama will need two LB spies, one on Eifert and one on Golson, should open up the running game rather well as long as you say, the OL plays tight and stout. But again, this game will negate the whole season's stats and who's better at what position, I believe this game will be a little more on both coaching staffs.

GO IRISH!!!!!!!!!!

Notre Dame

My humble opinion is that ND should have the edge in mental toughness. The Irish should enter the game with a chip on their shoulder, in a good way. Notre Dame started the season unranked, played several games as underdogs, finished undefeated and ranked #1. Alabama, on the other hand, was on cruise control as #1. They got a scare thrown in to them versus LSU, then got knocked down a peg by A&M. And their win against Georgia yesterday was far from dominating.

Alabama's a really good team and our boys are going to have a hell of a battle on their hands. But the Irish are 12-0 and #1 while Alabama has already faltered this season. So Tide fans should be more than a little nervous about what they are getting into. 'Bama hasn't even beaten everyone they were supposed to, while the Irish have beaten all comers. I can't wait until Jan 7th.

You keep referencing the past when you can't in this situation anymore. Dick 'Nighttrain' Lane used to clothesline people to talk them. Wasn't a penalty then but doesn't make it any less dirty.

Even old school football, that is a dirty hit. Unnecessary for many reasons. Just because a flag isn't thrown doesn't make it any less.

This will not happen because its up to the SEC to suspend him. If Bama was playing Savannah State next week, then yes, he would be suspended. He won't be for the NC game. This is how the South does things.
