For starters, this is an absolutely insane story — https://sports.yahoo.com/yahoo-sport...040318946.html
In general, I think there is consensus that the PAC12 has the worst refs in college football. Saw it again in our game this year against Stanford, saw it years ago with the David Grimes “no catch”... but the real issue is their systemic problems that routinely lead to major gaffes in key moments of big games. The NCAA would be best served going to centralized refs but conferences don’t want that so it sadly won’t happen. Very few schools end up in our predicament where refs from at least 4 different conferences are used throughout the season and you have issues with consistency... but the PAC12 is an outlier in either incompetence or corruption. It is perennially a **** show with them.

Sounds like the problem is bigger than the refs. When you have a non official who can overrule a call, there is a major issue. It’s almost as if these conferences might show favoritism. Hard to believe.

The no-call on Gustin was more egregious than the no-call on the WSU player.
The WSU player lowered his head and made helmet-to-helmet contact, but at the least the player he was hitting was moving down and changing the target zone. Gustin literally launched upwards to make helmet-to-helmet contact with the QB on a play where the QB's target zone was stationary.
I wonder if that was a sort of "make up" call from the replay booth for not ejecting the Wazzu player?
