The SEC is guaranteed a playoff spot regardless of conference champion record, and the cannibals will take care of the rest. They get one team, the champ.

I don't agree with that. If they all have 2 losses or more there are many scenarios where an SEC does not get in.

It's looking very likely that either TCU or Baylor goes undefeated. That's 1.

If Utah or Stanford go 12-1, that's 2.

A 13-0 or 12-1 Big Ten Champ will be 3. Seems likely

A 13-0 or 12-1 ACC champ will be 4. Seems likely

Then you have Notre Dame, an undefeated American Conference, and maybe even an 11-1 Clemson that doesn't win the ACC with a good argument.

You don't have to agree with it, but you know in your heart of hearts the SEC has a spot in the playoff no matter what. A two loss SEC champ trumps any other 1 loss champ in the committee's eyes, the only exception is MAYBE Ohio State. I'd be willing to wager a hefty sum a two loss SEC champ Bama would dance into the playoff over a one loss B1G champ MSU.

*im basing this solely on what we see in the polls every week, nothing more

I'm saying I don't think that's true at all. Alabama getting beat by Ohio St. last year changed a lot of things. Memphis beating Ole Miss really hurts the conference. South Carolina BLOWS this year, that hurts. Putting a team with 2 losses into a 4 team playoff when their BEST win will be over a 2-3 loss team at best would be a tough sell. Of course if any other Power 5 conference champ has 2 losses the SEC will get in.

I hope you're right, but don't think the general public is over the "SEC is on a different level" bandwagon we've seen the last decade.

Stanford at 12-1 would have beaten ND. So ND would not be in the convo if they do not beat Stanford.

The general public will never be over that. What matters is if the committee is over it, and I think that they might be, after this season. Yet another affect of the superconference is that you can claim to have a better conference than you do.
