We will see, I am not sold on Zack Snyder, but I am hopeful.

anyway, if it's your thing have fun, most of my friends can't stop talking about this and films like it... while I sit there like Stan in that "everything sucks" episode of south park and just see nothing but ****. lol
Music and Movies in general has ALWAYS sucked. The good stuff you have to look for. Think about when you were a teenager and thought how The Backstreet Boys sucked and how stupid Men In Black was. Why isn't Mos Def more popular and why hasn't anyone seen Fargo.

There are still great movies being made every year, you just aren't bombarded with billboards and commercials for them. Moonrise Kingdom, The Master, The Raid, Killing Them Softly, Looper, Argo, and that's off the top of the head.

Regarding your issue with substance. Movies are a business, and a business is in it to make profits. As long as movies Transformers continue to make $300 million in the box office, the studio will keep making them a priority.

Transformers 1: $700m+
Transformers 2: $830m+
Transformers 3: $1,123m+

Or the female equivalent:

Twilight 1: $392m+
Twilight 2: $709m+
Twilight 3: $698m+
Twilight 4: $712m+
Twilight 5: $752m+

It's sorta depressing. haha

But hey, we live in a world where the average person watches horrendous television and mediocre movies, listens to awful music, drinks Bud Light (aka the worst beer), and eats a steady diet of literally various poisons. What did you expect?

I'll even go on record saying that 2012 is/was the best year for movies since 1994, and maybe topping even that. Pulp Fiction/Shawshank Redemption/Forrest Gump is awfully tough to top though. This year has more depth though.
What 2012 films did you like?

Superman Returns should be erased from all levels of historical record. More damage to the brand than anything and leaves me hesitant to see another Superman movie.

Now Marvel's work with the Avengers and their franchise of characters is pretty good IMO.
