Mike Denbrock TE Coach

Mike Denbrock History:

Year School Assignment
1986-87 Grand Valley State Graduate Assistant
1988-89 Michigan State Graduate Assistant
1990-91 Illinois State Offensive Tackles/Tight Ends
1992-95 Grand Valley State Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks/Wide Receivers
1996-98 Grand Valley State Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers
1999-2000 Buffalo (AFL) Asst. Head Coach/Def. Coord./Offensive-Defensive Line
2001 Stanford Offensive Tackles/Tight Ends
2002-04 Notre Dame Offensive Tackles/Tight Ends
2005-08 Washington Offensive Tackles/Tight Ends
2009 Indiana State Assoc. Head Coach/Special Teams Coord./Linebackers
2010 Notre Dame Tight Ends

Important Facts:

- Played TE himself at GVSU
- Has coached defensively as well. Always helps when the TEs know what the LBs, DBs are thinking...
- Coached in the AFL...
- Has held an OT/TE position in multiple places, including ND under Willingham.
- While at ND, directly coached 7 players who have since been drafted.

Denbrock's Memorable Quotes about Coming:

- "It's hard to put into words how grateful I am for an opportunity to come back and be part of this University. My wife Dianne and I feel very blessed to have this opportunity. We loved our time when we were here before and to get a second opportunity to come back to such a great place is a dream come true..."

- "Brian and I first met each other in 1987 as graduate assistants at Grand Valley State University. We developed a good relationship and even lived together for a little bit during our early years. As you might expect when you are not making a lot of money, you have to have close friendships to lean on and we grew close at that time and have stayed close over the years."

- "I'm already out on the road recruiting. I'm looking to make sure that some of the commitments Notre Dame has received remain committed while also working to get as many of the young men as we have targeted. I'm looking forward to sitting down with them and their families and present the mission of the University of Notre Dame."

- "Having spent the time I spent at Washington and Stanford, I think it helped me develop a lot of great relationships on the West Coast with high school football coaches, with different recruiting organizations and people that can help get the word out about the University of Notre Dame to prospects. It's then our job to take it over and talk them in to coming to Notre Dame."

(I thought it may be helpful in the coming days, weeks, months, to have a thread about each coach, rather than having them jammed all into one thread. Understand if the mods decide differently, but here goes...)

Denbrock excited for second Notre Dame stint - Chicago Breaking Sports

Pretty basic article. I hope those west coast roots help us in California. Sounds like a solid guy to have as a positional coach. Looking forward to see what he can do with Rudolph. I've been screaming 'under-utilized' for 2 years now.
