Last defensive All-American? - Irish Envy

Can someone tell me the last time the Irish had someone on the defensive side of the ball named to the 1st team defense? I think it's been over 20 years since we have had a All-American at linebacker. Maybe this defines the ND program now. Without a decent defense ND will never be able to move back in the top10. I sure hope the next coach knows how to put a decent defense on the field.

Imagine if we had that defense was Ty's first year. We would be blowing teams out every week
