Over the last couple months I’ve been doing substantial reading on site awareness, search engine optimization and similar topics after being disappointed with a commercial search engine optimization tool that I purchased for IrishEnvy.com.

After finishing up my research and discussion SEO with some notable site owners, I have come up with a couple tools to assist webmasters of Notre Dame-related websites to help better their search engine ranks, increase traffic to their sites and build a better brand awareness for their Notre Dame website.

The first tool I created was a Top Sites ranking site, NotreDameTopSites.com. NDTS lets webmasters register and submit their website into the rankings, which is tracked by a small 88x31 graphical button placed at the bottom of their website. I’m sure you’ve seen it used around the Net, and it is a very helpful tool to help drive traffic to your website, as well as provides another link back to your site which helps with your search engine rankings.

The second tool I created was a Links Directory site, NotreDameLinks.com. NDL lets webmasters submit their website into the directory, which will obviously help with their search engine ranking as having another quality link back to their site. There are two options, Standard and Link Partner. Standard linking means you can simply submit your site into the directory without any link back to site, whereas the Link Partner means you will place a reciprocal link on your website pointing back to NDL. For that, you will get better placement within the directory.
