[IrishEnvy Exclusive] Q&A with Morrice Richardson

We're at it again... time for another IrishEnvy Exclusive. This time we've caught up with incoming linebacker Morrice Richardson. Hailing from the ATL, this hard hitting linebacker was a four year varsity letterman playing defensive end for Westlake High.

Heavily recruited, Morrice chose Notre Dame over college powerhouses Ohio State, Alabama, Florida, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Virginia Tech. We've definitely got another gem here and we hope you enjoy this Q&A!
IrishEnvy: What got you involved in football?

Morrice Richardson: My dad and the fact that I had a lot of spare energy.

BigMattWW04: How instrumental was your family in your decision to go to Notre Dame? I know it's a long way from Georgia, and I imagine you're parents might have had some apprehension about you going so far from home?

Morrice Richardson: Well they were very inrtrumental in my decision because if they were comfortable with it then I would be too. I was just a matter of them seeing the place and what they have to offer.

LuckoftheIrish86: What made you choose Notre Dame?

Morrice Richardson: The outstanding combination of acedemics and athletics... plus the people and enviroment.

BigIrish: Have you kept in touch with any specific players or coaches at ND throughout the Winter/Spring? Were any connections/friendships with those players/coaches responsible for his commitment to the Irish?

Morrice Richardson: Um I keep in contact with Coach Lewis and Coach Weis... As far as players are concerned, Mo Crum and Anthony Vilageria (Hope I spelled it right). The relationships were important, but I dont think it weighed that much on my decision but also did help.

Scooper: What are your thoughts on transitioning from a DE to a LB at the college level?

Morrice Richardson: Um, I will have to be more patient and focus/read more of what is ahead of me.

Jiggafini19: Morrice, if you could have dinner with three people, living or dead, who would they be and why?

Morrice Richardson: Um, Jesus Christ because I would love to hear his teaching first hand and for that short period of time try to simulate his evey gesture and move, for two and three my grand father on my father side because i never got a chance to meet him, and my grandmother on my mother side because she died while giving birth to my mother and I would love to sit and talk with her.

IrishEnvy: A big deal is made in the media that Notre Dame entrance requirements are too high for elite athletes. Do you believe this? Did you encounter any obstacles in getting accepted at Notre Dame?

Morrice Richardson: No, I do not believe that because athletes need to become smarter in the class and just stop thinking about football only. There are plenty of "elite" athletes that are smart, its just up to them to decide to come or not.... I consider everybody that signed this year as an "elite" athlete

IndyDomer: Are you doing any recruiting for the next incoming class? Who have you been talking to?

Morrice Richardson: Mildly. Nothing serious because I want to know that the coaching staff is really interested in the kid first before I waste his time and mine. But I have been recruting one of my teammates, Adison who is a 4.3 shut down corner who will come up and hit.

IrishEnvy: When your Irish football career is over, how do you want to be remembered?

Morrice Richardson: As someone with integrity, easy to approach/talk to, smart, hard hitting. big play making, famlily oriented, involved with the community, and most importantly a man of GOD.

IrishEnvy: What goals have you set for yourself to accomplish during your freshman season?

Morrice Richardson: Never give up...Straight As, Rookie of the Year, National Championship, prove all those that doubted me wrong, challenge and push my self.

Morrice, thanks for taking our questions and here's to an amazing Fighting Irish career!

Guys, feel free to leave some love for Morrice. I'm going to drop him a link to the interview so he can read your responses, comments, and feedback.

I love it when people give answers to that question that don't involves celebs or athletes.
