Double your pleasure

Over the past week Notre Dame received verbals from two of the nations top running backs, adding depth to an already loaded backfield. The first came from California standout Cierre Wood, a back that a number of recruiting rankings have as the number one running back in the nation (We’ll see how long that lasts now that he has given his commitment to the Irish ). Then just days later New Jersey standout Theo Riddick also gave his verbal commitment to Coach Weis. Riddick is considered a top prospect nationally as well. How did the Irish coaching staff pull of the double whammy?? See both Wood’s and Riddick’s recruiting profile here at IE for more details on their commitments as well as the recent commitments of other key players along the defensive front and elsewhere.

'09 CA RB Cierre Wood (Notre Dame Verbal)

'09 NJ RB Theo Riddick (Notre Dame Verbal)

With the commitment of these two quality backs, does this mean the other RB offers are void or will Weis take more?

You would think so, I believe that's it for Runnings backs, but you never know

You have to think that with the limited number of scholarships for 09 no more RB's will be accepted for this class. 2009 needs more lineman on both sides of the ball. And another quality corner. IMP

AlbuquerqueIF, agree we are probably going to pass on the last few backs, even though we extended offers. I believe they are made with the understanding that -we have 2 slots, we have offered you 4 kids, first 2 we take, and if you are not in quick enough, then too bad, so sad. I think thats how it is with many schools.

However, I think it is different with some other schools. Remember last recruiting season(2 months ago) when you read of several kids signing letters but then getting the boot when there was a bigger fish that signed late. I don't see ND doing that. That is probably why you see ND make less offers early on. They don't want to make that mistake.

I believe your right Grizz, Charlie's policy on commitments was if your committed to us then we are committed to you. If you start looking around again, we will start looking around again.
