Congrats on getting through all of that! It's tough, but I'm up for the challenge. I know what you mean about taking care of the wife. It really can be trying at times. We will be back, you can bet on that, though it will probably be awhile. Definitely would like to get beer when we do though!

I should have a long time ago. I have just been super busy this past year. My wife and I had our first child, who is about to be 1, I am back in school full-time, and I work full time. By the way, we were in Charleston for the first time last month and we want to move there now lol. What a wonderful place!

Yeah. Increasingly, over these many years, I've had neighbors both add and subtract from my compost at my invitation. It's a source of admiration and envy. Parts of the pile are possibly of some 1980's vintage. Well aged with a good nose and a rich, satisfying aftertaste.

When I hit MPLS in '78 my housemate and I piled our newspapers in a corner for the biannual Scout fundraising paper drive. When I bought my house in '83 there was no city run, city wide recycling. I would drop my paper, bottles (sorted by color) and aluminum at a private outfit about a mile away. I also started composting. I never bagged a single leaf from my big ol' Catalpa that was taken out by a storm a year ago. It stood for 70 years and had big ass leaves. Vegetable scraps, egg shells, coffee grounds, etc., all went to the pile. I now have a mini-garbage cart which gets little action. The city has expanded what's eligible for recycling and eliminated sorting. Its pretty damn easy. Yard waste is picked up in the spring and fall. They are working on municipal collection of compostables. They're also concentrating on rental properties being required to make all easily collectible. In a high rise it would be nice to see garbage, recycling compost chutes.
