Domer Wins First US Gold in Beijing - Notre Dame Football Discussion

Mariel Zagunis, a junior at Notre Dame (?), won the first gold medal awarded to the United States in the women's individual sabre leading the US sweep of the event.

We also have two other athletes in fencing, one a freshman the other a junior, in addition to six other current and former students competing in the Olympics.

A girl from Atlanta won the silver in that event.

I LOVE the Olympics. I was a volunteer during the Atlanta Olympics and got to drive some of the celebrities around. When I wasn't doing that I was at an event or downtown at Centennial park. An AMAZING time. I also saw soccer in Athens which just makes me laugh. They tore out the hedges in the UGA stadium to fit the field in. The Bulldawg nation LOST it over that:-)
