I lived in NYC when I was younger and I still root for the Yanks, but I'm mad they are taking Yankee stadium down. As a Cubs fan, taking Wrigley down would be...unthinkable. |

The NY fans want a modern stadium and not a graveyard. It has more memories than any other stadium but does not have the character of Wrigley and Fenway. It is sad to see it go but the house that A-Rod built will be alot nicer. |

| Walk-On | The fans were not a factor in the decision to build a new stadium. The OWNERSHIP wants more luxury boxes which they can sell out. The team keeps all of the money from selling these to corporations who make a long-term commitment (usually abut 10 years). This will bring in even more money, along with the YES network, to increase the financial gap between them and all of the other teams in major league baseball even more. So the management can continue to sign more free agents (and, of course, stick some of it in their pockets). Cashman gets it. He's learned that the best way to go is to develop a farm system, keep your best prospects and allow them to work their way to the majors. However, management doesn't always want to wait for this process to play out, so they sign veteran (preferably with star power) free agents. What's money, if they don't pan out, they can afford to eat the money. |

"The Ted" in Atlanta is gorgeous on a shallow level but it will be decades before it has any real personality. They should just fix it up. I just don't know how you could tear something down called "The House that Ruth Built". My father is a retired minor league coach. Baseball players/fans are very superstitious. If I were a Yankee fan, this would make me feel very leery:-)
