What was the most exciting sporting event you've seen? In person or televised (radio), doesn't matter. For me, it was the last game of the 1987 World Series. My dad won the right to buy the company season tickets from work in mid-August. He bought them thinking he'd get his money back--the Twins hadn't locked up a playoff spot yet, much less getting to the World Series, much less a game 7. So my mom and I got to go--lower level, first base side, just up from the Cardinal bullpen. The entire state was wound into a frenzy--they had never experienced anything quite like it before. For a 4th grader it was pretty amazing. Second was probably the excitement surrounding the 1980 US Hockey team. I was too young to really know what was happening, but I could tell that it was a really big deal from the way my parents were acting. I got fed lines to cheer for the US to beat Finland and those damn Soviets. Just curious what sticks out the most to the rest of you guys.... |
