A very prominent figure in Notre Dame and Los Angeles/Oakland Raider history decided to call it quits today. After seventeen solid seasons, Tim Brown returned to his proverbial NFL home by signing a one-hour contract with the Raiders, filed his retirement papers with the league office, and then rode off into the sunset as one of the most prolific, yet under appreciated, players in NFL history.

Now, less than a couple hours after his retirement press conference, the debate is already raging by the so-called experts such as ESPN’s Ray Ratto if Tim Brown is a first ballot NFL Hall-of-Famer, and some have the audacity to question if he will even be inducted at all. Besides shaking my head in absolute disbelief, all I can must to say is: Are you kidding me? What games were you watching?

What does everyone think about Brown also joining the NASCAR game? He wants to be the first black majority owner.

I think its good, not just because hes black, but because it may create some type of exposure for ND somehow. Every time he gets interviewed on TV at one of those Nascar races, an announcer will say something like "the Heisman Trophy winner from Notre Dame", unless its ESPN, then they will just keep harping on the fact that hes the first black majority owner in Nascar.

I think it could be very interesting, and obviously, it could lead to some positive publicity for Notre Dame. I was really hoping he would be working on our staff in some capacity.

Maybe he'll help out in recruiting.
