| A Cool Cat To Many!      | It's a special group indeed! Irish recruits know meaning of commitment on ChicagoSports.com To you recruits, THANK YOU!! You have no idea how special you will become. You have, no doubt, heard of the tradition of Notre Dame. You have, no doubt, become familiar with the education you are about to receive. You have, no doubt, are aware of the hope you are going to become a part of. What you may not be aware of is something that I thought I had lost. Something that I thought had disappeared from the "big business" that is College Football now. Something that NOONE can EVER put a price on,,, INTEGRITY! HONESTY! LOYALTY! Ok, it's more than one thing but in the same breath it is all the same in a person. I am not stupid enough to not realize that you have big dreams of football fortunes. Ultimate hope of a life made easier by your years of sacrifice for football glory. As a young adult you truly have made a "40 year decision other than just a 4 year decision". You are reminding even the most scrupulous in this sport that a MAN'S word means something still and it will not go unrewarded. I don't know if you have any idea of the bedrock of foundation you (Class of 2008 recruits) are about to lay but just ask your fathers of a year like 1984. Names like Ismail, Rice, Zorich, Stonebreaker, etc.. They "committed" to a new coach by the name of Holtz. A little man with a big mouth that had come off a disappointing year. They felt, INTEGRITY, HONESTY, and LOYALTY! They bonded together, suffered together, felt joy together and ultimately, found SUCCESS together! You (Class of 2008 recruits), have added PRIDE! Pride of an old man like me seeing something special happening again for only the 3rd time in my lifetime. A group of young men with a desire, a passion to come together to see a future as bright as you are and lending that passion and fire to the greatest University in the Football World. The University of Notre Dame! Our Mother! You may not understand now when we say "Our Mother" but with that INTEGRITY, HONESTY, and LOYALTY,,,,, COMES FAMILY! And family is FOREVER. Remember you are special, not only for your talents in the game of football, but for the fact that in February,,,, you will be a member of the family that is NOTRE DAME! GOD BLESS!! |
