ESPN 1000 out of Chicago reports...

Charlie Weis is on the ND radar. Heard it during an update on my way to lunch. More to come if I find anything on ESPN about it.

I posted a story on the front page about him being interested per WDNU.

Sounds like both Petrino and Hawkins are taking contract extensions today.

There's two reports on Alvarez. As you might expect, a WNDU in South Bend says a source "close to the program" believes he'd take the Irish job. (http://www.wndu.com/sports/122004/sports_38857.php) On the other hand, in Wisconsin, another source "close to the program" says definitely not.

I'm not sure about Alvarez...No doubt, he's had a great run in Wisconsin, and is revered there, but I'm concerned that if he came to ND, we'd be hiring the name more than the coach. I'm not sure he could reproduce the chemistry he has at Wisconsin any more than the current flavors of the month (Meyer, Hawkins & Petrino).
