Coaching Questions...

Now that Notre Dame has made the move, what's next?

Here are just some questions that came to my mind:

1. Who should be the next ND Head Coach? Urban Meyer, Jeff Tedford, John Gruden, someone else?

2. Should Ty Willingham coach the Irish in the Insight Bowl?

3. Will the head coach matter if we can't get more speed or recruit more skill players?

4. By having the schedule ND plays, are they asking for an average season every year (8-4,7-5, 6-6)?

P.S. - Is the student rally still on? If it was supposed to be about excellence for the football team, it should continue. IMO, ND is average for more reasons than just the coaching staff.

Any1 of those candidates would be good. I have to give preference to Gruden and Urban cause the love ND football.

2. Should Ty Willingham coach the Irish in the Insight Bowl?

I think he should, we gotta win this bowl game, its been 10 years. Ty's a pretty classy guy i think he'll coach the game for them.

3. Will the head coach matter if we can't get more speed or recruit more skill players?

We have recuited talented players with speed, willigham was awful at bringing there talent out. Look at stovall and Mcknight with a better coach those guys could be great, should be great considering how highly touted the were coming outta high school.

[b]4. By having the schedule ND plays, are they asking for an average season every year (8-4,7-5, 6-6)?

Holtz played tough scheduales. we just need to set the schedule's up better with bye's and extra home game or two.

I dunno if the rally is still on, it should be though to show the ND higher ups how important ND football is!

1. I like Butch Davis...I know I sound like a broken record, but I say he's the guy.

2. Ty owes nothing to ND and I really don't expect him to stay there to coach the game, especially if he goes to Washington, because he's going to be busy recruiting for them.

3. No...we need to get more skill players and I think the lack of skill players coincides with question 4. Guys with skill want to go to programs that can win a National Championship and somewhere along the way, Notre Dame fell off of that list. The rough schedule doesn't help.

4. Yes they are. No doubt about it. We don't have a single cake-walk game on the schedule. We get a lot of credit for it, but it doesn't help because every game is tough, every game is physical, every game is tiring. The only breaks this team gets is its bye weeks. We could put 2 or 3 cake-walk games on there and still play one of the toughest schedules in college football. I've seen the schedules for upcoming seasons and it looks like they've finally seen that to a point.

Cool

1. John Gruden is my pick, about two weeks ago I was all about Urban but, he does actually lack head coaching experience when all is said and done. They both love ND football almost as much as we do. I think any of those two wouyld be great.

2. I think he probly should coach the Bowl game. It would be hard for a new coach to come in with 4 weeks prep time for a bowl game...And if the new coach does coach the bowl game and loses everybody will doubt the reasons for hiring him and firing Willingham. Give the new HC some time to develop his offense and defense (which needs development). The players are still pissed at White for the firing but I think they will get over it.
After all they didn't go to ND to play for Willingham alone. One man does not make or break the war machine. The war machine will keep turning regardless. They came to ND to play serious football and win some championships, not to play only for Ty Losingham.

IndyIrish will become famous soon enough

Exclamation A name no one is mentioning...

I think ND should give some consideration to Norm Chow (at least see if he'll interview). The consensus seems to be Urban Meyer is the perfect fit. Let's not forget that his "turn-arounds" have been at Bowling Green and Utah where he is not going up against the competition he will face as head coach at Notre Dame. Also, Meyer was receivers coach at ND under Holtz and Davie. Presumably he had some recruiting responsibilities then, so he isn't he a little bit responsible for the sad state of recruiting at ND. I don't recall any stellar receivers at ND recently. David Givens has done well in the NFL, but when he was at ND the coaches couldn't even find a position for him.
