TY Willingham

TY Willingham is doing a good job this year. I agree losses to BYU and Boston College are unacceptable. TY Willingham ruined Michigan season. On the road they beat MSU, who Bob Davie lost 5 times in a row to. Bob Davie never beat teams like Tennessee or Florida State. The offense is getting much improved and Brady Quinn is starting to show flashes of a heisman candidate. Next year the Irish will go to a BCS bowl and win. It’s important that Notre Dame goes to a bowl game and breaks the ten year curse of losing bowl games this year even if it's some weak bowl. Let’s face it Kevin White should be fired, he is a moron that guy hired George O’Leary. He thinks it’s great to play these impossible schedules that any team in the NCAA would lose 3 or 4 games. Bob Davie only won 9 games because the schedule was so weak!!!

Cool Ty Willingham

I hate to say it, But I do not agree with you.

I have nothing persoanlly wrong with Ty Willingham I don't even know him but I believe he would be better at a different school.

Ty Willingham has the worse record out of all the Notre Dame Coaches. Except for the first 8 games of his first season he is 13-13 thanks to Tennesse. A .500 coach at Notre Dame. Thats Tragic. Coach Faust had similar success as him.

Notre Dame in the last 2 years have lost more games by a wider spread than in all of Notre Dame history. Bob Davie was actually a better coach than Willingham. He recruited better and he had a slightly better record.

If Notre Dame continues to be a .500 or slightly better team the respect for the program will surely fall.

Now with that said. Can Notre Dame be a powerhouse next year. YES they will be good with Willingham next year just because Quinn and Walker will have more experience and some returning players. But why not try a different coach with better coaching credentials than Willinghamm and turn what coulod be a good team next year into a better team.s

Willingham's a good coach, when compared to Davie. Overall he's average at best. ND has no need for an average coach. i see Ty being a guy that can win maybe 8 or 9 games. He'll never win a national championship. I agree that we have to win a bowl game this year it's been to long now. Were not going to a bcs game next year, the sceduale is all screwed up, unless we can move a game up before the Michigan game. I'm still hoping the 49ers take Willingham next year so we can get Meyer....

Cool I say again

Like I said recently in the other thread 'ND Coaches'.

here is the Link to a great article on Willinghams Career at ND and else where.

Which will help prove my point.

Its not about Davie or Willingham. Its about Willingham not able to coach at this level.

I don't like Bob Davie, especially with those dam losses to Michigan State every year, but Ty is only marginally better. Davie had it rough because he had to follow in Lou Holtz's shoes.

I think we'll beat Pitt and lose to USC and still make a bowl. That might not be to bad, since we'll probably play a beatable team and finally get a bowl win. I've seen a thousand possibilities of potential bowl invitations and the most realistic seems to be the San Francisco bowl, against a lowely Mountain West team.

When was the last bowl game we won and which game was it? It hasn't really been 10 years has it?

Cool Last Bowl Game

I hate to admit it but it has been 10+ years since our last bowl game victory.

In 1993 we played Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl and beat them 24-21.
That was the year, I still believe Notre Dame should have won the National Championship. After beating Florida State head to head in South Bend-the game of the century- and Florida State losing their bowl game.

My GF is Florida State and U of Georgia alumni and I cringe every time I go to a Florida State game. Just because in the stadium it shows the 2 times they won the N.C.

The last bowl game was 2 years ago and NC state stuck it to us pretty good in the Gator Bowl 28-6.
