He is probably the most hated Chicago sports figure outside of Steve Bartman. I mean people here HATE Wannstedt with a passion. There have been more Ohio U fans in this area lately than there have ever been, and for obvious reasons.

Ultimately, ND needs Pitt and UM to win now so that the schedule strength stays up near the top end. That goes for every opponent on the schedule.

When Lou "retired" there were a vocal group of ND fans calling for Wannstedt over Davie as the next head coach. Based upon's Wannstedt's first two games college
Davie actually was the better choice (not that he was the right choice). And consider that while Davie lost to Solich at Nebraska, Wannstedt lost to Solich - at Ohio.

I didn't want Davie from the start. A D coordinator that ND beat twice and came here only to not set the world on fire? Rookie head coach for the biggest job there is in college football?

They could have done way better than both of these guys.
