I'll say that I am absolutely ignorant as to how well or how poorly this guy is doing his job. Obviously as noted in the picture above he must not be holding up his part of the deal on his job. Would someone enlighten me as to why it seems that nobody likes this guy? Besides the two football hires is there anything else that he has done wrong? I'm talking outside of the capacity of Football...

Please mock me not. I will adorn the dunce cap if it means the IE public well...

Where should we start? Dr. White has made plenty of mistkes here at ND and very few good moves.

Football: Extending Davie Contract (Bad); O'Leary debacle (Bad); Willingham era (Bad); Weis regime (So-So)

Facilities: Being late in the game with the GUG (Bad); JACC renovations (Bad) - they should build an entirely new facility; No new Hockey area (really Bad) - look what Jeff Jackson has done in three seasons at ND.

Hires: Jeff Jackson, Hockey (GREAT); Dave Schrage, Baseball (Bad) - could of had the Oregon State baseball coach, but let it slip through the cracks.

That's just the tip of the ice berg with Dr. White. I'm not sure why everyone and their mother claimed him as this savior of intercollegiate athletics before he got to South Bend. He's been nothing but, an ineffective leader. Fr. Jenkins needs to get on the horn to Columbus, Ohio, and get Gene Smith (ND alum) back to his rightful chair in the JACC

I think the reason he gets credit for doing a good job is that outside of ND football, athletics have never been in a better spot in the history of the school.

But then, maybe winning gets old?

Whoa, there, pal. I take it as true that a lot of sports are doing well at ND. HOWEVER, I rather doubt that ANY prior AD had the financial wealth at his disposal that K White does. Also, let's look at the top two sports, football and "men's" basketball. The fortunes of the football team speak for themself. Although I believe C Weis will get the team rolling again, it should be remembered that, if White had had his way, we'd STILL have Willingham! Basketball is a study in how to achieve pleasant-looking mediocrity. THe pre-conferance schedule in 2007-08 was a joke, and, when the two tournaments started (the Big East and the NCAA) the chickens came home to roost. Notre Dame has TWO NCaa Tournament victories in the past FIVE years. That's one less than DAVIDSON had in March, alone. And, in the face of that record, White keeps extending the coach's contract, always a minimum of five years beyond the current year.

In the final analysis, it really doesn't matter two bits to the majority of the Notre Dame family if the boys' fencing team is #1, or the girls' softball team is kicking ponytails. With mediocre football and basketball programs, the rest are irrelevant details.

Seriously, it's not about money, it's about Focus. White has done what was asked of him...if he did not, they would have fired him.

If Football does not turn around, he will most likely go.
