Oye Vei, Irish Lose Again on the Road

Even though they lost this past Saturday, ND's RPI ratings jumped up a little with help from Cincinnati beating Pitt and K-State winning over Texas A&M.

That's a silver lining. But, you know, every good conference is marked by how hard it is to win on the road. Look at the ACC. Look what Texas Tech did to ATM. I think ND should be playing at least a couple of quality road games BEFORE the conference schedule each year. THAT would help them a lot, I believe. You don't get prepped for tough BE road games by playing Colgate, Monmouth and Long Island U, WHEREVER you play them.

Show me a conference in D-I right now that has its road team's winning percentage at 22%. The ACC that you mentioned has a 44% winning percentage for their teams on the road. The Pac 10, which is the second rated conference, according to the RPI ratings is at 37%.

I do agree with you that they should have had some road games to start off the season. Next season, the Irish will get tested early and often before the Big East portion begins.

Bew: Point well taken, but note that the ACC has two top five teams in Duke and NC. That'll tend to pad the road wins stat a little. Still, in every good conference, and the BE is certainly one, it is tough to win on the road.

What I REALLY want to see is ND turn in a game of shooting 45% from 2's ville, with the 3-ball being secondary. Heave and Hope is just NOT the way to last in MArch.

Very true. The team has actually did well from two against WVU, with the three ball being somewhat absent. But if Harangody can't get it going, I don't think the Irish can win without the three ball. Ayers needs to wake up from his funk and make something happen. He, along with Hillesland, are the needed ingredient to this Irish team if it wants to be successful.

I think you're right. Ayers needs to play more athletically, and Hilesland is needed to take some of the load off Harangoody.

San Diego Padres Notre Dame

Villanova is only favored by 1.5 as of now. We can definitely win this game. The key will be early shooting by the Irish.
