| Freshman | I dont know what everyone's problem is. I dont know if you all just dont watch that much basketball, or if you just have some misconceived notion of the state of Notre Dame basketball. First of all, Georgetown is ranked in the top 10 for a reason. They are flat out one of the best teams in the country, they are deep, they are athletic, they are fast. On our BEST day we still probably couldnt get to G'Town and win. Hell, not many teams could. ND will be just fine. The key to doing well in the big east and getting into the dance is winning your home games, (which we've done so far) and not losing road games to the rutgers, seton halls, and south floridas of the league. The loss at Marquette was bad, not that we should have won, but should have been more competitive. Part of that I think was a week layoff, part Marquette hitting everything. But going to Georgetown and losing 84-65 is not shameful and is not any indication of the state of the program. Criticizing Brey is just stupid. The guy wins 66% of his games and is more than likely, barring some losses to bad teams, going to take us to the tournament for the second year in a row. Seriously guys, that should be enough to keep us satisfied. We are not Kansas, UNC, Memphis, G'Town, Duke, so on and so forth. We should be happy with a 4th place finish or so in the big east and a 6 or 7 seed in the dance. Anything on top of that is just icing on the cake. |

I dont even think we will finish 4th in the Big East. This is an average team. our next game is once AGAIN a week away and @#21 Villanova. I will break down the remaining schedual: @#21 Villanova (another week between games) Loss Providence (A very good 12-5 team, 4 of their losses are against ranked teams) Win (maybe) Depaul (Depaul always seems to beat us at least once) I say win though. @ Seton Hall (Same as Depaul, they seem to win at least once) Loss #13 Marquette (Need I say more?) Loss. Cant win all of them at home. @Uconn (This one is on the road and we all know how well we play on the road) Loss. @Rutgers (Sad to say it but its on the road and I'm not so sure) Toss up. Win???? #16 Pittsburgh (At home but its Pittsburgh and theyre deep) Loss. Syracuse (A young athletic team who is deep and getting better and better) Loss. @Louisville (Same as Syracuse. young deep team that is getting very good AND on the road) Loss. @Depaul (On the road and Depaul beats us every year at least once, but I say we pull the upset) Win. St. Johns (This team is average but can pull some upsets here and there) Win maybe South Florida (Last home game of the year) Win. So with that said I say we finish overall 19-11 (9-9) That wont qualify for a Big Dance this year unless we pull a couple miracle upsets on the road. I say NIT! But I can live with that.

| Freshman | NDOM, I respect your analysis and you make many good points. Here is my breakdown of the rest of the schedule..... At Villanova..... I think we will put up a better effort but come up short. LOSS Providence..... Up and coming team but we get them at home. WIN Depaul...... They lost some guys from last year, it shouldnt be close at home. WIN At Seton Hall...... On the road but they just arent very good. WIN Marquette...... Depends on the health of Dominic James, toss up. LOSS At Uconn....... Young team that will continue to improve. LOSS At Rutgers....... Worst team in the league. WIN Pittsburgh...... No Cook or Fields means they arent very deep, and they are a different team away from home, see losses at Dayton and Cincinnati. WIN Syracuse...... Another team decimated by injuries, its going to be a long year for the Cuse. I see them struggling BIG TIME the rest of the year. WIN At Louisville..... I think the second best team in the league behing G'Town. LOSS At Depaul....... See previous game against them. WIN St Johns....... Young team that wont be able to win at the JACC. WIN South Florida...... Senior Day, Win for Rob Kurz........WIN That puts us 12-6 in the big east, 22-8 overall, more than enough to get in, but if you still have doubts, 12-6 would probably put us around 5th or so in the league, so we would end up playing the 12th seed in round 1 of the BET, so we should get one more win to sure things up. Please feel free to argue anything I have said. |
