"I was really excited about the Notre Dame offer because of all the tradition they have up there," said the 6-foot-3, 283-pound Hinish. "I used to really like Manti Te'o and I was really rooting for them in the National Championship when they lost to Alabama. I really liked Notre Dame ever since I was a kid. I used to have a Notre Dame hat that I always wore.
"I was on the phone with the North Carolina coach, Chris Kapilovic," he said. "The only thing I really know about them is that Michael Jordan went there and it’s in Chapel Hill. I know they had a pretty good year. I think they were only one game away from making it to the National Championship Playoffs."
