The Florida coaches, if they did visit him, visited him at the school, and if they followed the rules, only made sure that they knew he was there and said hello, and then probably spoke to his coach. And comparing Stanford's grad rates to ND's is not that drastic - Stanford is a tougher school to get into for both students and athletes, and there grad rates are still outstanding.

And if a kid is serious about academics he can get a damn good education at Florida too. It is just that at schools like Florida, athletes can avoid serious academics. But thumbing our noses at Stanford's athletics is off base...Notre Dame and Stanford are both schools who do not offer "basket weaving" majors for jocks.

Obviously no one would go that far, but the 'constant' attention that can be shown to in state recruits can often go a long ways to making them feel wanted. Noor Davis will be the first recruit I have ever seen use the term "40 year decision" that doesn't pick Notre Dame if he goes to Florida... so at least that gives me a little hope that he can keep the trend going. |

That, plus his family connection to USC and his roots in LA, are why I seriously think USC more of a dark horse than people realize. I won't be super shocked if he heads west.

ND - 1; USC - 34; UF - 42; 'Bama - 75; Stanford doesn't offer business as a major. Of those 5, only Stanford has an alumni network that rivals ND. Not saying we're a lock by any means, but Noor's focus on academics, his determination to major in business, and his talk of a 40-50 year decision seem to militate strongly in ND's favor. I'm feeling much better about Friday's announcement.

Wish I could feel as hopeful as you do! It would be a tremendous get, but the hometown school scares me. Also, a prominent USC mod thinks USC has real shot here...
