East Coast standout eyes the West
By Rick Kimbrel, Recruiting Analyst
Mar 11, 11:48 am EDT

There once was a saying go west young man, go west. Could one of the east coast’s top defensive tackle prospects be hearing that siren call? Defensive tackle Tyler Stockton (6-1, 290, 4.9) from Princeton (N.J.) Hun School has interest in western schools and has received his first offer from a Pac 10 school.

“I’m very interested in West Coast schools and I wouldn’t mind going out there for college,” Stockton said. “UCLA Coach Rick Neuheisel offered me a scholarship and I have interest in UCLA. I’m also interested in Cal and Washington.

DT Stockton up to a dozen offers
By Mike Farrell, Recruiting Analyst
Mar 18, 10:00 am EDT

Offers are picking up for Princeton (N.J.) The Hun School defensive tackle Tyler Stockton. The 6-foot-1, 290-pounder pulled in three more offers recently including two huge ones.

“I got offers from Tennessee, Northwestern and Notre Dame,” he said. “I’m really excited about all of them.

“I got a chance to speak with Coach Weis from Notre Dame. It was an honor. My coach told me to call him and I was shocked, I didn’t know what for. I went to camp twice there last year and I got a good vibe from the coaches. Coach Weis told me when he saw my tape, he couldn’t believe it was the same kid he saw at camp.”

How big of an offer is the one from the Irish?

“It’s huge especially to me,” he said. “I don’t have any favorites, but Notre Dame has the tradition and they have everything. Everybody knows Notre Dame and they are always playing on TV, it’s exciting.”

...

Stockton isn’t the only talent at The Hun School in 2009. He is joined on the defensive line by stud end Anthony LaLota. Would the two like to play together in college?

“I’d love to play with Anthony,” he said. “We had a really good year last year and got to practice together. We’ve talked about it a little bit already.

“A lot of coaches keep asking if we’re a package deal. We haven’t talked about it enough, but it would be an honor to play with him.”

mat33 is on a distinguished road

he isn't that highly rated, but I don't know why. He is huge, quick, and nasty. I would love to land this kid, he will be a special player. I think that he has the size for NT but the quickness for DE so I don't know what he is being recruited as.

At only 6'1", I bet he is going to be recruited as a NT. I am not a big fan of "package deals", but if it means we get 2 DL, I am for it! CW and CB, New Jersey may be the place for our one-stop shopping D-line needs!

BD, after reading the last story from yesterday, sounds like others are throwing the package deal talk out, not the teammates. Stockton said the 2 of them hadn't talked about that specifically, but he would be honored to continue playing along side Lakota. Doesn't exactly sound like they are a pair-tied together at all. JM
