Xavier Nixon narrows list of schools down

Jack Britt High School’s Xavier Nixon, who is one of the nation’s top recruiting targets on the offensive line, narrowed his list of college possibilities to nine on Wednesday evening.

In-state universities North Carolina and N.C. State made the cut along with the nationally recognized programs at Clemson, Florida, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, South Carolina and West Virginia, according to Jack Britt head coach Richard Bailey. Bailey met with Nixon and his parents, Kenneth and Fotini Nixon, for nearly three hours Wednesday to discuss the nearly 40 scholarship offers received by the 6-foot-6, 275-pounder.

“I think he has a great list and he can’t go wrong with any of those schools,’’ Bailey said. “Now he’s going to spend the next three or four months getting to know the coaches at those schools a little more.’’

Nice! He is a must get but we face stiff competition. I'd be very impressed if CW can land this kid.

I just HAVE to respond to this. This board is currently populated by people who are mostly die-hard fans of ND. Not surprising, considering ND is going through a down phase. Some of the fans that populate the boards right now are knowledgeable and some of them are not. As in most bards. As a result, when some people make unreasonable predictions, like winning a NC this year, there are some knowledgeable fans who temper their enthusiasm and give them a dose of reality.

When ND starts to win, there are a lot more jackasses that come to the boards. The ratio of these people with unreasonable expectations is too much. In all the enthusiasm, the people with reason also get suckered in. And when the team doesn't meet expectations, all criticisms are answered with meaningless rhetoric. It is unfortunate really. Now it is extremely easy for me to give specific examples, but I won't go into that. Only this board seems to be immune to this effect. The ND boards on scout and rivals are a joke. That's the reason why I don't post on any other ND boards. Make no mistake, this is exactly the the reason why people

ant you seem like a knowledgeable football guy. its true in some cases where no matter what some fans are going to say this is our year were gonna shock the world. but that is what makes football great. you have to recognise these people and not even argue with them because in thier mid they are right. you will defend your team and we will defend ours. so when people make outlandish remarks just realize that youre not gonna change them. and move on to another conversation with someone else who might be on the same level as you and discuss the teams. people hate the yankees, the cowboys, the lakers for much of the same reasons people hate us. we are a storied school with alot of history and we are always on tv. osu has another rich tradition filled school but hasnt had the exposure we have. notre dame has been on tv forever, and with the stories going back to rockne, the gipper and well god knows how many stories there are it gets annoying to people sometimes. "im tired of hearing notre dame all the time" is what people say so yeah when the mighty notre dame falls (as we have recently) people rejoice in some cases. every team has fans of all levels. i hope you are as passionate about your program as we all are of ours. you guys have a great team this year and i hope to hell you beat the shit out os usc, but when you play us in the future i hope you trip over your feet.
