The D. Jones so-called fiasco was due to the ego of D. Jones....he didn't know how to deal with disappointment and wasn't willing to learn how to do so. Look at Clausen...he too faced disappointment but rebounded nicely and will go on to have a great career...even with the possibility of playing second to Crist. I really think Jones would have done a lot of qtrbking last year at Notre Dame if he had stayed...but life will go on without him.

If you haven't watched this kids film, do yourself justice and do so. He really is what he says, he is a passing first QB. Not like Terrelle Pryor who instantly runs out of every formation. This kid does have great speed, but doesn't really have all those set runs. He can pass pretty well from watching him, I think he could be a project for us, but a very succesful one in the end.

Angry Morgan Newton

This kid should have received an offer long time ago. He is a natural for the qtrbk position. First, he is super qualified academically----a must trait for a qtrbk who is expected to know the telephone-book size play book. He is physically gifted at 6'5",215 lbs and runs like a deer. I'm really puzzled as to why we haven't offered this young man who lives in our back yard in Indiana. Anybody have any more info on this kid?

Well the staff is probably going to be very selective about recruiting a QB this year after getting Clausen and Crist.

Potential reasons:
a - he is a dual-threat quarterback. After the DD experiment blew up in Weis' face I doubt he is rushing out to try it again, especially since it isn't his area of expertise.
b - maybe he just didn't impress with his arm? His stats didn't stand out - (he had something like 700 yards in the air last year if I recall correctly). So maybe the staff doesn't think his arm lives up to his running ability and size.
c - Maybe he isn't interested? I know in-state tends to draw a lot of kids but who knows... Maybe he wants to go to a school with a similar offense, or hates cold winters...

There are plenty of potential reasons.... if the staff thinks he is their guy they will offer. Let it play out.

Irish52 may have a point guys. With Clausen and Crist, this may be the year to take a "project QB". You don't expect or need him to play anytime soon, so he would have plenty of time to develop (remember Kevin McDougal).
