They are quarterback John Nance, offensive tackle Joe Schafer and running back-defensive back Shady Salamon. Cretin-Derham Hall wideout Michael Floyd, the star of Minnesota's prep class, already had been offered a tender by former Gophers coach Glen Mason. Six Minnesota high school juniors are believed to have been offered football tenders by the Gophers. The others are defensive lineman Willie Mobley of Eden Prairie and linebacker Sam Maresh of Champlin Park. In past years, Notre Dame has had success recruiting Cretin-Derham Hall players. Brewster's early-offer strategy might pay off. Floyd, Nance, Schafer and Salamon are close friends and might want to remain together in college. Meanwhile, Brewster's quarterback son, Clint, said he's nearly 100 percent committed to Illinois. His father, though, still is trying to persuade him to come to Minnesota. "Right now I'm going to Illinois," Clint said Thursday from Denver, Colo., where he is a senior at Mullen High. "My decision has been made since last summer. My dad is recruiting me like any other prospect. He says it (Minnesota) is a better situation for me, the school, the campus, how nice it is. "There's not too much he can say, though. I've been living with him my whole life, and I think it's just time for us to part ways." |

I still believe that it is going to take awhile to change that program from a run dominate to a successfully balanced team. |

| Waterboy | Mr. Floyd now that G. Little is not going to be playing WR for us in the coming years, that is one less guy you have to compete with for playing time. I am pretty sure you can come in and start at WR for ND if you choose to come here. ND needs Michael Floyd |
