That being said, with Goodman committed and 6 offers extended a receiver (Tate, Odoms, Floyd, Butler, Baldwin, Alexander), it looks like they're gunning for more than one more verbal at WR. Combine that wish so many other area's of numerical need (2 way OL for the spring game, a guy who was already a small 4-3 DT and a converted Olineman backing him up at NG, and the potential to lose Ferrine, Lambert, and Wooden after this year, leaving us with 4 corners on the roster), I just don't see 5 being the minimum. I'd say its more like they're aiming for 4, with 5 being the "stud" spot, which as of now looks like Arthur Brown or bust. Shayne Hale sounds like he could care less, and most every other stud LB has a leaning towards a different program (Sabino towards UNC, Sweat towards OSU/PSU, Beal towards... everywhere). The only one offered that sounds good with the Irish is Filer, who would make a nice 4th addition. | |

| Junior | I don't think they would turn down any of those 5 LB's if scholarships are available. It's not going to happen anyway, but there is nothing wrong with having 8 stud LB's in a 3-4 Defensive scheme, even if they are all in the same recruiting class, and especially when you have little or no current depth at that position. Half of them would not play Freshman year, so ND would have arguably the best LB corp in the nation for the next 5 years. It's all a pipe dream anyway, I'm not even sure we get Filer to make it 4, the other 4 are all questionable in a lot of ways. I would like to see another offer go out, maybe to Jordan Futch, who is not quite on the level of these guys, but who with an offer, would give ND a better shot at Sabino, who might be better than all of the guys mentioned here, except obcourse for Arthur Brown. |

Even though ND made Shayne's cut, I still don't think they have any real chance with him.
