And, does he have a Rivals or Scout profile yet? Any sense of whether he received any offers (or interest) from other major programs? Is he good enough to compete with Crist et al for playing time? In other words: royal blood aside, how big of a catch is he? (Sorry for the barrage of questions.)

I'm pretty sure he was getting interest from LaTech but I'm not sure if they've offered him, and I believe the other big time programs that want him aslo would give him preferred walk-on status rather than an official offer. If I had to guess I would think that he'll be a nice story and a very good scout team QB that may see limited action during his Sr. year. Now if ND was still in the Willingham era you never know but now that CW is here ND will seemingly always have a deep stable of quality QBs.

I just did a quick Google search, and the WeAreSC forum had a couple of pages of discussion of him here and here - same story, basically: he played basketball through most of high school, and is going to be the backup QB at De La Salle this year. He would've been a walk-on there, too. It's worth reading through those threads, though, for the sheer entertainment value of a bunch of SC fans salivating over having Joe on the sidelines, and of how much it would bug all of us to have a Montana at SC. Suckers.

Both are a quite bit taller than Super Joe. They talked about the qualities they shared with their dad. It did not mention ND. Talked about his QB Coach, who he listens to more than his dad. Talked about growing up with your dad being the greatest QB ever. |
