| Walk-On | Great news that he is visiting ND this weekend. Like some of you I also have af eeling that he will be Irish. Why bring your mother and coach and stay with a current commit if you don't intend on becoming a member of the greatest football team in the world!!! I hope he's not teasing us. |

As a fan, I hope that people don't jump to conclusions, go psycho and/or start ripping/discrediting Newman again if he does the unlikely and doesn't commit on sight. I guess I understand why folks got antsy after the B&G game, but some came off as overly emo and even immature. The "punishment" proposed by some, of needing to move on in late April/early May, and some of the flak this kid caught, didn't seem to fit the "crime" of taking a little extra time. Hopefully we've wised up, , one way or another. And no, I'm not pointing fingers at any one poster. I'm not trying to pick a fight, or solicit some kind of "in my defense comment" from anyone who criticized Newman's patience. Whats done is done; just please no quick trigger bashing. After hearing one of this kid's radio interviews, he doesn't deserve that kind of criticism. Newman probably will verbal this upcoming weekend, especially if it is his coach and his mother accompanying him. However, he might do a Dayne Crist thing, of going back home, talking things over with those closest to his decision (i.e. the rest of the family), and wrapping things up soon thereafter. I mean, Hafis Williams probably wanted to verbal to ND at the B&G game, but he waited to talk to his grandmother first to get her blessing. Point being, it's not like some kind of "week later" scenario with Newman is completely farfetched, or unprecidented. You'd hope with the extra time he's taken that things are sorted, but we're not the ones living his life, so we don't know. Its just a thought that crossed my mind. If he's not Irish by the the first weekend in June, you can pretty much write him off, baring some intervention of epic proportions. But I truly believe he's joins the ND football family very soon. Time to get excited! |

He was close to pulling the trigger once and this time, it looks like he's going to do it. Newman says not only is he favoring the Irish, but so are his parents and his high school coaches. |
