Not too shabby. He looks bigger on film than his height/weight ratio would suggest.

Quick Note About John Goodman

As many -- OK, almost all -- of you know, Fort Wayne's John Goodman is heading to Notre Dame next fall to play wide receiver for the Irish. In the meantime, he'll be playing quarterback at Bishop Dwenger, then playing as a swingman on the basketball team and running track.

Journal Gazette high schools reporter Greg Jones went to Goodman's first scrimmage -- think Notre Dame's open practice, but with more hitting, actual plays and less fans -- and caught the first glimpse of the kid as a quarterback. Insights caught up with Goodman as well, as he prepares for the first game of his final high school season Friday.

When our story runs, we'll link it here -- along with some other tidbits about Goodman that didn't make the story.

-By Michael Rothstein of The Journal Gazette

From the article he links to:

Quote:
John Goodman made his 2007 debut as the Bishop Dwenger quarterback in Friday's annual scrimmage against Bishop Luers. In the first portion of of the scrimmage, Goodman showed off the athletic skill that has gotten him a scholarship to Notre Dame next year at wide receiver.

Goodman, who had trained at a quarterback before becoming a receiver as a sophomore, has a pretty good arm with his accuracy needing some work. He attempted one cross-field pass that had plenty of velocity, but maybe just too much air as it was nearly intercepted.

But Goodman looks like he will make some plays for the Saints with his legs before getting really comfortable at quarterback.
