The offers and rankings are pretty different. Dan has offers from OU, LSU, OSU and Um amongst other schools. Kyles big two offers were from ND and OSU. Dan is a 4* and Kyle was a 2*. So based on HS credentials Dan is better, but in college nobody knows yet because Kyle is only a (RS) soph. and Dan has yet to start his Sr. year in HS.

DAMN, I didn't realize that not only do we have Kyle on board, but Kyle's older brother goes(or went) to ND and his grandfather played baseball there too. Come on how do you not come he must've grown up a big ND fan.

There are only two things that would hold this up:

1. He legitimately is afraid of competition with his brother.

2. He's the kind of guy that wants to "blaze his own trail." Some kids feel burdened by the precedents set by those who came before him. Not saying he is at all here, but it is the case with other instances.

Other than that, I'm pretty much of Knight's mindset. There are always little things, but we don't really have to do much of a sales pitch on the pros of ND for this guy.

I've seen posts here several times now that suggest he doesn't want to, or even go as far as saying he is afraid to, compete with his brother. Most brothers in sports are fiercely competetive with one another. why would he be any different? has he been quoted as saying something like this or is this just speculation? there could be a hundred reasons why he doesn't want to come to ND, but this one seems silly to me.

I'm pretty sure he has been quoted as such. I remember reading somewhere that he was concerned, and talked to Weis about it. The only guy I could be mixing that up with is Brett Nagel (brother of soon to be true freshman Aaron), but this McCarthy brother concern issue has legs on more than one site. Nobody has thoroughly shot it down with evidence, and its not a sentiment for ND boards only. I tried tracking down a quote, but most everything on Dan is premium access, so I couldn't help you out there, 41.

Is he afraid of competing or is he afraid of competing with his brother? If it is the former, then ND has a better chance because OSU's depth at safety is tremendous. If the latter, then OSU's the favorite here.

Thanks Domer3. I know I have read this on several boards, but I've never seen anything that suggested he actually said this. you know how rumors get started on one board, and since there are many of us who read several, some info spills over and spreads. Still seems a bit goofy that he wouldn't want to compete with his brother.
