What made it even more absurd was putting Blaine Gabbert ahead of Dayne. Nebraska was heavily recruiting Crist before he committed to ND, they even offered him before Blaine. So basically even Nebraska would rather have Crist then Gabbert. |
The Manuel love on Rivals is very strange. There's an article on SI.com where they call him the perfect prospect. I can understand why they like him as he has great physical tools but they seem to be a little overboard in their affection.
As for Gabbert ahead of Crist, that should be expected. Rivals, Scout, and ESPN all rank Gabbert ahead of Crist. He's clearly the consensus #2 QB at this point behind Pryor. And I'm not sure how relavent the whole date of offer thing is. They just might not have evaluated him fully yet. Notre Dame offered John Goodman and Martavious Odoms before Julio Jones. I don't think I'll draw any conclusions about the staff's opinion of those players from that.
