| I know what you're saying, but there is a difference between seeing a guy say it, and reading what he said. The video I've seen of Page had some conviction about his academic plans, sounded a lot like Brandon Newman, who was clear and consistent about what he wanted. The rest of his speech, about whittling down his other schools, sounded a little more rehearsed, so it stands out if you look at one of the rivals videos.
I guess, its the difference between a kid who wants to graduate, and the kid that wants to graduate with a degree in business, or broadcasting, or zoology, etc. Page has a plan - wants to major in finance or business (a feather in ND's cap) - and given the volume of comments about academics, this doesn't sound like some recruits who add it as a token response, or that academics would be an afterthought to them.
I understand reservations, because more times than not its not a big factor, but when he throws us into his top 5 immediately, then follows it up with two or three interviews re-emphasizing the importance of academics in his decision, I tend to believe him. |
